The Regent of Bireuen, H. Mukhlis, ST, along with the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), carried out a symbolic planting event for the Third Quarter Simultaneous Corn Planting and Corn Planting on Social Forestry Land, organized by the Bireuen Police Resort (Polres).
The event took place on Wednesday afternoon, July 9, 2025, in Paya Cut Village, Juli District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province.
The simultaneous corn planting was carried out by the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri) Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chairperson of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Siti Hediati Soeharto, the Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran, and the Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Natoni in the Selo Lestari Forest area, Selojari Village, Klambu District, Grobogan Regency, Central Java Province.
The simultaneous corn planting ceremony took place across Indonesia, including at the Aceh Regional Police headquarters. It took place online via LCD TV screens in the Bireuen Police Community Guidance Unit service vehicle at the corn planting site.
Bireuen Regent, H. Mukhlis, accompanied by the Chief of Police (Kapolres), the Military District Commander (Dandim), the Chief Prosecutor (Kajari), an official representing the Chief Justice, members of the Regency People's Representative Council (DPRK), and members of the Bireuen Police Department, among others, stated that the Bireuen Regency Government (Pemkab) strongly supports the 2-hectare corn planting program being held by the Bireuen Police Department in Paya Cut Village today.
This extraordinary activity aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's hope that Indonesia can achieve food self-sufficiency. We also hope that Bireuen can achieve food self-sufficiency in both rice and corn.
He also stated that the people of Bireuen Regency have also started businesses growing corn and other secondary crops on existing garden land, which has long existed between coconut trees, eliminating the need for felling.
Regent Mukhlis also urged the community to support food self-sufficiency by continuing to utilize available vacant land for corn planting.
"The Bireuen Police Department is planting corn today on 2 hectares of land, and we will provide support until the corn is harvested," explained the Regent.
