PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) Lhokseumawe, in collaboration with Almuslim University (Umuslim) Peusangan Bireuen, launched the family school program in Gampong Blang Mee, Kutablang, Bireuen, on Thursday (July 24, 2025).
The opening of the family school took place in the Paya Nie Ecotourism Area and was opened by the Deputy Regent of Bireuen, Ir. H. Razuardi MT.
The Deputy Regent of Bireuen, Ir. H. Razuardi MT, expressed his support for this cross-sector collaboration. Ir. Razuardi emphasized the importance of making the family the primary foundation in facing various social dynamics and challenges of the times.
He added that the development of the Paya Nie Swamp area as a center for learning and tourism based on environmental conservation aligns with the spirit of the Family School in building collective awareness of social and ecological issues at the community level.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Sadriah SKM MKM, stated during the opening that the implementation of the Family School aligns with the PKK's priority agenda, particularly in strengthening family resilience, empowering women, and preventing stunting.
She appreciated the educational approach used in this program, which she believes is able to directly address community needs at the household level.
Dr. Cut Azizah, representing Umuslim, told several media crews in Bireuen on Friday (July 25, 2025) that the implementation of the Family School is a concrete manifestation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in carrying out the dharma of community service.
She explained that the program's objectives were formulated based on a mapping of family issues in Bireuen, such as the high divorce rate, increasing cases of stunting, domestic violence and bullying, as well as the threat of drug abuse and online gambling.
Therefore, this program is designed as an educational space that is contextual, applicable, and directly addresses the needs of families at the village level.
"This is the second school after the one in Geulanggang Baro, Kota Juang Bireuen, with the aim of strengthening the role of families in building sustainable social resilience," she said.
The meeting took place in the hall of the tourist attraction and will consist of several sessions, featuring speakers from various backgrounds.
The initial meeting featured Dr. Sri Wahyuni, Dr. Silvi Listia Dewi, Dr. Tgk Ihwani MA, Dr. Rambang Muharramsyah, Dr. Khairul Hasni, Richard Mareno MT, and Risky Novialdi MHi.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Chairperson of the Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Hiryani Daud; the Secretary of the Family Welfare Movement (DPMPGP-KB), Irmawati SP MLing; representatives from the Bireuen Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda); the Keuchik of Blang Mee and village officials. PT PIM represented Jufri (Acting VP of Social and Environmental Management), and hundreds of other invited guests.
The event concluded with the symbolic handover of learning packages to participants and a friendly gathering. This launch marked the beginning of the implementation of the Family School in Blang Mee, which is expected to strengthen the community's social foundations through a family-based approach.
