Hambanthota International Convention Center

Hello all,
This is my entry to the contest, "Steem Atlas Challenge XXV - Pin Your Favorite Spot" in the "Steem Sri Lanka" community, organized by @damithudaya.
So, it was my first time traveling to the Hambanthota International Convention Center to attend the 75th birthday celebration of the Venerable Dr. Omalpe Sobitha Thero. We started the trip at 10.00 am from our hometown, Balangoda, and we could reach their sharp 2.00 pm, which was the time scheduled to start the program.

Hambantota is a very large city located in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. Normally, this area has very dry and hot weather. So, if you ever go the Hambantota city, you will see that there is a very large number of infrastructures even though there are not many people living there. Specifically, the development of the roads was amazing in this area. You can experience the development of this city while arriving from Embilipitiya city. The roads in this city are not highways, but are very similar to highways, which can maintain a higher speed, like 70 - 80 kmph.

The international conference hall was located on the left-hand on the road from Embilipitiya to Hambantota. The conference hall has a very large area for vehicle parking; actually, there are several large parking areas.

There are two main entrances to the hall; however, on this day, only one entrance was open to the hall. There are a lot of workers available for the conference hall. When there is a special event at this place, normally, army officers are assigned to the conference hall duties and the protection.

However, I should say that the area where this conference hall is located is somewhat remote. This issue can be identified in most of the Hambantota area, even though a large number of infrastructures have been built, but it is difficult to see many people around there. However, there are sufficient facilities for hygiene on the premises, and they are well-maintained. The interior of the conference hall is fantastic, and it is very well air-conditioned. Also, the seating arrangement is great, and it is very comfortable to sit there for hours.
This event was conducted in the presence of the Hon. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, also with several other honorable local and foreign guests.
Hope that I will get an opportunity to visit this great place again.
