Hello, fellow Cricket Enthusiasts,

You already know that I am sharing a weekly wrap-up of what's happening within the Cricket community. And it's the 101st edition now.

As I discussed in the last few weeks, the world of Cricket is pretty busy right now, especially with the ICC World Test Championship 2025-2027 cycle, many shorter format tournaments, and also with the leagues. So, let's see what's going on!

Pakistan tour of West Indies, 2025

  • Both these teams have been struggling a lot in the past few years. It's not like they don't have talents, but something is missing, especially in managing, just what's happening in the Sri Lankan team right now. Anyway, Pakistan is touring the West Indies these days for a shorter format series, with 3 ODIs and 3 T20s.

  • The first match was held at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. Pakistan started the batting, and they scored 178/6. Saim Ayub scored 58 runs, while Samar Joseph took 3 wickets. Johnson, Charles, and Jewel Andrew started the chase, and their effort was awful. They couldn't keep the scoreboard ticking at the required rate. The played for 11 overs together and scored just 72 runs.

So, with the big required rate and pressure, the they lose 72/0 to 110/7. 69 runs were needed in the last four; Holder and Samar tried their best, but ended in 164/7. Pakistan won by 14 runs.

  • Pakistan started the batting in the second match in the same venue. It turned out to be a balling pitch, as the started to lose wickets continuously. With a small effort from Salman Agha and Hasan Nawaz, they could score 133/9. Holder took 4 wickets for 19.

West Indies batters also struggled, especially against the spinners, but the pacer gave the game away. Spinners gave only 6/53 in their 12 overs. WI scored 82 runs against Shaheen and Hasan Ali. The game went until the last game, and WI couldn't have done without the 32 runs against Hasan Ali in the 16th and 19th over. Holder finished the match in the last ball with a four.

  • Once again, Pakistan batted first in the decider. And that was a quality effort from the openers, Sahibzada Farhan, and Saim Ayub. These two scored 138 runs in 16 overs with fifties. So, Pakistan could score 189/4.

WI started well, scoring 59/1 in the powerplay. Alick Athanaze scored 60 runs, but they once again struggled against the spinners. Rutherford tried until the end, but they could score 176/6. Pakistan won the match and the series.

  • The ODI series was played at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad. West Indies batted first in the first match, and they scored 280/10. Lewis, Shai Hope, and Roston Chase contributed with fifties. In the chase, the top and middle order got starts and kept it going. Rizwan scored a fifty, and Babar scored 47 runs. Anyway, as usual, their run rate was pretty slow. Pakistan needed around 101 off the last 12 overs, with 5 wickets remaining. Anyway, Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Talat take the team home with an incredible partnership.

  • Pakistan batted first in the second one, and it was a rain-affected one. In 37 overs, the score was 171/7. The DLS target for the West Indies was 181 in 35 overs. The top order failed, but Shai Hope, Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase, and Justin Greaves did a fantastic job to win the match with 5 wickets, and 10 balls remaining. The final match and the decider are going on right now.

South Africa tour of Australia, 2025

  • It's a high-volume tournament between two top-ranking teams. After a clinical win against the West Indies, Australia is facing SA for 3 ODIs, 3 T20s.

  • Australia started the batting in the first match at Marrara Cricket Ground, Darwin. Their top order wasn't successful, as three wickets fell in the first three overs. But Green started the massacre, scoring 35 runs in just 13 balls, and Tim David carried it with 83 runs off 52 balls. He hit 8 big sixes; one was out of the ground as well. With that, they scored 178/10 in 20 overs.

With the dew in play, it could have been an easy chase. But quality balling and fielding effort from Aussies got the edge. Ryan Rickelton scored 71 runs, and Tristan Stubbs scored 37 runs. But all others were trapped by Aussie ballers, especially Hazlewood was particularly great. Maxwell took a sunning catch at the mid-on, showing his class, and RSA ended up in 161/9.

  • Just finished the second T20I, and it was a show from Dewald Brevis/ baby AB. He scored 126 runs off 56 balls, with 8 gigantic sixes, and 12 fours. With his effort, they put a total of 218/7.

It was never easy for the Aussies, with the high score, good balling attack, and poor form from Aussie batters. Wickets started falling regularly, making it harder for them. Tim David once again hit 50 runs off 24 balls. But that wasn't enough. The were all out for just 165 runs. South Africa won by 53 runs.
