Just like Friends TV series, Young Sheldon is one of my favorite stress relievers for years. It's one of the popular and beloved American sitcoms in the world. It's about the early life of child prodigy Sheldon Cooper, with his family. And also, it's the prequel to The Big Bang Theory, showing Sheldon's adulthood as a genius scientist. With gentle humour and family bonds, this show has touched the hearts of millions of viewers worldwide.

It was created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, and telecast from 2017 to 2024 for 7 seasons.

The show has received 7.7/10 from 136K ratings on IMDB. As you can see in the image below, each episode has a 7+ rating. Anyway, this is not a show that wows the crowd with a complex story and amazing cinematography. But a simple, and heart-touching family drama, mainly filmed in a few locations. Either way, it has touched the hearts of many.

Well, as I said earlier show is mainly centered around the genius kid, yet less EQ Sheldon. His father is a Football coach at Medford High School, and his mother is a housewife, mainly religious and often stressed about the kids. He has a troubled elder brother, not so good at studying, but hardworking, who became a natural salesman with time. And Missy is his twin sister, completely different than Sheldon. She is not the high IQ type, but very social and emotional. And Memaw, Mary's mother, also plays a significant role as a caring, independent, and fun character.

This family is living in East Texas, and we see their daily events, bond, and their character development throughout the series. It's not just about Sheldon, but also the evolution of the others as well.

Seasons 1–3

Well, season 1 started with the nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper starting high school in the same class as his older brother. Even though he is exceptional in Academics and challenges teachers regularly with his knowledge, he has few major traits. He is not socially and emotionally intelligent, which makes it hard for him to adjust to new environments. It doesn't bother him, as others, especially Mary, tried their best to protect him and look after this extraordinary talent. Anyway, we regularly see the hardships and funny moments in raising him.

Anyway, we see sibling rivalry more often, especially with all the attention Sheldon gets. Sheldon deepens his knowledge and even starts to attend East Texas Tech as a part-time college student under Dr. John Sturgis. Meanwhile, Georgie explores jobs, real-world experience, and independence.

Seasons 4-5

Sheldon, at the age of 11, graduated from high school as valedictorian, and Missy also graduated the elementary school. After many discussions, Sheldon started his college life at East Texas Tech, and we see how faces major changes in his social circle. Missy also grew up as a typical freshman, and she continued to play Baseball.

Anyway, Georgie dropped out of high school, and we see the tensions of the parents, and how he copes as a full-time worker with the job and the girls. There was some heat in the marriage of the coopers for a time, but that eventually got settled.

Seasons 6-7

Georgie had a serious relationship with Mandy McAllister, who is 12 years older than him. And come to worse, when he was just seventeen, he got her pregnant. The family faces many social and financial challenges with this. With the birth of their baby girl, Constance, their lifestyle changed a lot.

Meanwhile, we see some romantic relationships between Memaw and her running a gambling room as well. From time to time, we see how George's health problems, and unfortunately, he died of a sudden heart attack in season 7.

Eventually, at the age of 14, Sheldon was selected for the California Institute of Technology for further studies.

So, I share a small overview of the show. Even though there is humour and the lifestyle of a young prodigy, there is more to it. We see their relationship within the family. The way they are facing and overcoming challenges along the way.
