Telco Annual Trip -2024

Hope you all are doing great. As per my knowledge, these days are rainy days for SL people. Today is also a rainy day. I made a cup of tea and came to my room. I opened my laptop and thought about a topic to share with you in this rainy mood. What came first to my mind was our office two-day trip. Because we went on that trip in heavy rain days. Actually, in a flood situation. So, this is about that trip.

First of all, I would like to tell you about the word that I used in the topic of this article. The word Telco is not our company name, but it is our team’s name. Usually, our company allocates a budget for an annual trip for each team. So, last year we planned a two-day trip to Nuwaraeliya. During the planning phase of this trip we did not expect rain but when it was close to the planned date the rainy season started. Actually, it was the worst days of that month. Everywhere in the country faced a flooding situation but we couldn’t cancel the trip because we had already paid for the hotel and other places.

So, as we planned, we went on the trip. We saw that some places were flooded. Nearly 43 members joined the trip. When we reached Nuwaraeliya it was almost near 1pm. We went to our hotel “Grand hotel” and the lunch buffet already started when we went there. Therefore, first we had our lunch. There are many varieties of food there. Soups, buns, dishes, rice, meats, fruits, cake and many more.

After enjoying our lunch, we decided to visit Bombaru Ella waterfall. Actually, it was my first visit of this beautiful waterfall. We took many pictures there and enjoyed ourselves a lot there. We used public transportation to go there because our bus is very lengthy one. So, after visiting that beautiful place we went again to our hotel and had a good bath. After that we were ready to go for dinner. The dinner was also delicious and contained a lot of food items.

The next day we woke up early and prepared to go for breakfast. After having breakfast, we went to visit the hotel. The architecture of the hotel is very unique. Its inside theme is wood, and it adds historical value to this place. This hotel is built in 1827. I will bring you more details about this hotel in another post. The garden of this hotel is very beautiful it is filled with lots of flowers, Roses, dahlia and many more beautiful flowers.

After saying goodbye to this beautiful place, we went to lake Gregory and spent time there. We went boat rides and took many photos. Actually, we enjoyed a lot there as a team. After that we went to a strawberry shop which is called Simply Strawberries by Jagro. We ate chocolate cakes and bought strawberries. After that we started to come back to our living areas.

Actually, it was a nice memory. I have never been on a two-day trip before. This trip leads us to improve our friendship. Since we are working in a remote environment, we don’t have time to see each other. The interaction between the team members is very low in this kind of working environment. Though it is very comfortable to work it is also having some issues as well. So, I believe that organizing these kinds of interactive events will help to improve the team bond.
