According to my point of view "Tissa" is one of the most beautiful and greenic small cities located in the southern part of sri lanka. It's popular specially among buddhists due to cultural and religious facts.

In here there's an ancient stupa called "Thissamaharamaya" which was built by an ancient king who ruled the area. Buddhist people in sri lanka visit this stupa and worship specially on poya days. Also there's a large lake called "Tissa lake" which has an eye catching view built by the same king.

All these places are located very close to each other along with green paddy fields, proving that old sri lankan quote "The lake, The stupa, The paddy field and the village is highly interconncted with each other!"

There's huge water canal coming from the lake, which supplies water for paddy fields. People who usually come to the city for worshipping stupa, bathe from this water canal, before worshipping stupa.

In sri lanka, specially on the poya days of May and June people held so many "Dansals" which provides food for free, for everyone who is passing "dansala". Tissa is famous as a generous city which held many "danasals" on those poya days. This is something we are proud of our country, sri lanka!

Visiting thissamaharama made me cherished, as In Tissa, nature breathes in every shade of green!
