Beautiful Phuket | Part 5 | Aquaria Phuket
During our vacation, we spent three days in Phuket. I’m going to split our time in Phuket into multiple parts to better cover the wide range of information about the places we visited, modes of transportation, and prices.
In this fifth chapter, I’ll share about Aquaria Phuket in Central Phuket.
The third day in Phuket was allocated as a free day so we could decide where to go on our own. We kept this day for either visiting James Bond Island or exploring Old Phuket Town again.
As we were a bit tired of the sea after the previous day’s island hopping, we decided to head to Old Phuket Town again. We picked some amazing destinations to stop by on the way.
Aquaria Phuket is known as the largest aquarium in Thailand, located on the B1 Floor of Central Phuket Floresta. Central Phuket, on the other hand, is a giant shopping mall that spans around 4,300,000 square feet. Aquaria Phuket and the Trickeye AR Museum are located close to each other on the B1 floor.
We reached there by a Bolt cab from Malin Plaza, which cost us around 235 Baht.
Tickets
We purchased our tickets via the Klook app, opting for a combined ticket for both the aquarium and the AR museum. At the aquarium entrance, they stamped our hands with the combo package stamp after confirming our online ticket. Booking via Klook was cheaper than the walk-in price, and verification at the entrance was very quick. The ticket price was USD 72.70 for the two of us.
They also took a photo of us at the entrance, and later, during our exit, they offered some photoshopped pictures with different backdrops, starting from 700 Baht.
Activities
At the aquarium, you can enjoy activities such as mermaid shows, penguin feedings, shark feedings, stingray feedings, underwater ballet shows, and a few more. I’ll share the timetable below, but you can also find it at the entrance. In addition, there is a large collection of fish and sea animals, and on the upper floor, there is a collection of other animals and reptiles as well.
Let's Walk Through
Right after entering, you’ll find a curved glass-walled fish tank with many species of fish. I’m not a fish enthusiast, so I couldn’t get all their names, but this tank gave me the best first impression. It’s designed so you can sit and watch the scene. Walking further, you’ll find other different species of fish and creatures like sea turtles, otters, rays, and penguins. All are well-maintained, and the fish look very healthy. There is a large shark tank with different kinds of sharks and even some dolphins. This shark tank is massive, and you can get a close view of the sharks.
Some exhibits feature coral collections and creatures commonly found around corals. There were also smaller tanks with live sea worms.
Mermaid Show
We caught the mermaid show at the South China Sea section (in front of the restaurant). It was quite an entertaining performance, especially for the large audience of preschool children there that day.
There’s also a large restaurant where you can watch the mermaid show while sipping delicious Thai tea.
Aquarium Tunnel
An aquarium tunnel can be found right next to the restaurant. Here, you’ll spot a slightly odd-looking shark that frequently swims overhead with a school of fish.
You’ll also notice some concrete structures inside, which could be traditional designs related to Thailand.
Every inch was beautiful.
Other Animal Collection
On the upper floor, there’s a collection of various reptile and mammal species. Some of these animals we were seeing for the first time like the raccoon we spotted there.
We spent about 1–2 hours inside the aquarium, and the place is truly worth a visit.
