Love - Hate - Love of New Year 💕
Awrudu is not a festival, it is a feeling. You will agree with me if you live or used to live in Sri Lanka. Awrudu in our childhood was more happening and interesting.
As children, we were the one who were mostly happy. You need reasons!!! We get new clothes, there are various sweets in each house, we get gifts from each home, after all all the schools and offices are closed hence all family is at home.
With time, in our mid teen ages, we started hating new year for no reason. At this age of our life, we get annoyed by our relatives and neighbors due to their questions regarding education / love / career life / marriage and so on.
With time, again we start loving Awrudu season when we get married. Celebrating Awrudu with your spouse become something interesting. You will try new sweets that you have never tried when your are with your family earlier. You will clean & repair your home, change curtains, go for shopping to buy clothes & goods for home. That becomes interesting.
With our busy schedules, awrudu becomes the only time that we gather together as a family. Some of our cousins meet us once a year during this season. Memorizing our childhood experiences, new year vacation strengthen our bonds whether it is blood or not.
Even I had a time which I hated this season. But now I have started loving it again. Time will decide the rest❤️ .
Even if we go shopping 12 months a year, if we don't shop during the Awurudu season in April, Awurudu is useless....😁
Ha ha 😁 this is so true. Awrudu starts with shopping 😂
