DRS in Formula 1 is not as Same as in Cricket...
With the release of "F1: The Movie", I developed a fondness for Formula 1 racing. I like cars, but Formula 1 cars are built differently from other cars. And if you ask someone to name a Formula 1 driver, I think most people's answer will be "Lewis Hamilton". But when I watched some recent races, I got to know that Lewis Hamilton is not the man anymore. And it's not totally his fault either. Let's keep that discussion for another day.
We mainly hear the word "DRS" in Cricket; in the long term, it is the "Decision Review System". I think it's also the same in Football. And there's DRS in Formula 1, and that's a completely different thing from norm.
So in Formula 1, it is "Drag Reduction System". Aerodynamics play a huge role in Formula 1 racing. The racing cars are developed to minimize aerodynamic resistance while maximizing down force. Then the tyres could grip well with the asphalt and use the all the power exerted by the engine. When aerodynamic drag is minimum, the car could go faster.
So, where does this DRS play? I think you all have seen a big spoiler on all Formula 1 cars. It's called a rear wing and there's a flap in it which can be opened to reduce drag. And that's what simply happens when DRS is enabled. But the drivers have to follow certain rules.
DRS can't be used in the first 2 laps or after a Safety Car restart. And there are areas on the track that are allowed to use DRS, like on straight areas. The main thing is, DRS was introduced to make the race more exciting when overtaking. Overtaking is the best thing to watch in an F1. So DRS can be applied during overtaking and can only be used by the car chasing car, and the gap between the cars should be less than "one second" of time. It's called "One Second Rule".

On the races I've watched, DRS has affected a lot for the result of the game. It's great to watch the chasing car gaining speed over the other car and pass, and get the lead. Recently, the Hungarian Grand Prix was held, and it's summer break now. Let's get back with another F1 post..
