In almost all movies and tv series, we see a character building of a main character. It could be him being completely a different one or it could be improving himself while being himself. I mean I like the 2nd one and you'll see a guy like that in this movie.
"The Amateur" is an #action #thriller #movie that was released in April for theatres and recently released in VOD. Rami Malik, Laurence Fishburne, and Holt McCallany play main roles here. The movie made around 100$ million but under 60$ million budget, it's not enough ROI.
We all know Rami Malik from "The Robot". And here also, he plays a role of a hacker, Charlie Heller but it's more professional. He's a cryptographer for CIA and he's married. Just after his birthday, her wife Sarah flew to London for a business trip.
At CIA, Charlie had contacted an anonymous source named "Inquiline". And she had sent some encrypted file to look up and said not to tell anyone at CIA. The files contained some serious information, like information on planned suicide bombings for political revenge. And these files were signed by the CIA deputy director, Alex Moore.
Even though the anonymous source told Charlie not to tell about the intel, he brought the evidences to Mr. Moore but something horrible had happened in the interim. There had been a terrorist incident at London near the hotel where Charlie's wife, Sarah was staying. And she had been killed by this group of terrorists.
He was emotionally down and wanted to take revenge. He felt like CIA is doing enough on her case and he wanted to take revenge himself with the help of the intel he gathered. But he lacks combat skills. So he requested from Mr. Moore for a special training for his revenge mission keeping the encrypted files as a leverage.
Charlie was sent to "The Farm", a training facility where he learns the basics with Col. Robert Henderson. There, Charlie found that he can't shoot a man to kill as he don't have enough guts to do it. But he strengthen his other skills there to make him resourceful when he meets the killers of his wife.
In the interim, Mr. Moore is on a hunt to find the encrypted files as he feels threatened. And Charlie is on the chase for the killers. So who will win? Will Charlie get his revenge or will Mr. Moore find the files before all the secrets are exposed. It's upto you to find out.
