Entertainment Blog #337 | Law Abiding Citizen [2009] : In Search for Real Justice...
The justice system doesn't always work right. Even it's obvious that a suspect is guilty, substantial evidence or eye witnesses should be there to prove it. Also, sometimes a wrong one could suffer for a crime that some other committed. When there's no option, they pled guilty to lower the sentence. And in this movie, it's been taken seriously.
"Law Abiding Citizen" is an #action #thriller #movie that was released back in 2009. I found this movie out from an article from Google Feed. Glad that I found it. Jamie Foxx and Gerald Butler play the main roles here. This movie is not a pleaser of critics but the nature of the movie has attracted a good audience to bag a box office of $128 million.
Clyde Shelton is an engineer and a father for a daughter. One day, while all were getting ready for dinner, two criminals, Rupert Ames & Clarence Darby, invaded their home, tied Clyde and let him see his wife and daughter bleed to death. Clyde was also let to die but he made it. The motivation behind these actions is unclear.
Somehow, both Darby and Ames were caught and brought to justice, but the lack of evidence made a risk that both would not get proper punishment. The lawyer of the case, Nick Rice, made a deal with Darby so he'll testify against Ames and plead guilty for murder of 3rd degree. Then, Ames will go to death row, and Darby, the real killer, will be released after 5 years. Clyde wasn't happy about Nick's decisions.
This whole thing triggered him to play a mission to take revenge not only from Darby and Ames but also by the system of law that failed to prove the guilt of the murderers of his family. What's about to come is a rollercoaster and I won't spoil a bit. It's quite hard to believe, but try to enjoy the action.
