Tech Blog #218 | Honor 400 Pro : Is it Worth for Rs. 199,990??
Honor smartphones had their ups and downs but the last few years had been better for them. I also use a Honor smartphone, a Honor 90 and it still holds pretty well. Their last year's flagship, Honor Magic 6 Pro were also officially released in Sri Lanka. And again, there's another official release. It's time for Honor 400 series.
Later last year, Honor released Honor 300 series but didn't make out of China. But Honor released #Honor 400 series globally. Europe variants are slightly different from the variants released for the rest of the world. It's just the difference in battery capacity and charging speeds. So we are not talking about the Europe variant here. And since there a lot if good things to be told about the Pro variant, let's talk about the Honor 400 Pro.
Talking about its build quality, it does look like a flagship with the subtle curve on the edges, a stylish camera bump and even bezels around the display make it looks premium. it also comes with IP68/IP69 rating which is a highlighted flagship feature this year. Also the metal plated frame looks great but it surely takes a hit at durability tests. I think the frame cracked at the bend test of jerryrigeverything but thanks to glass panels, the structure was hold intact.
The display looks gorgeous with 6.7 inch AMOLED display with 1.2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It also features 5000nits of peak brightness but it only reaches 1600 nits on auto mode. Lowest brightness is also important as peak brightness and it could go down as 1 nit. So it's good for doing stuff in the dark. The smartphone can be unlocked using Optical fingerprint sensor. The biggest lacking part is this is not an LTPO panel. But Honor is not famous for Green lines and that's a big plus point.
The Honor 400 Pro is powered by last year's Snapdragon 8Gen3 which is powerful enough to handle tasks done by a smartphone. The variant comes to Sri Lanka consists of 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage and 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. That is plenty of RAM and storage for your tasks.
The camera system here is an all-rounder. consists of 200MP main sensor with Optically stabilized lenses, 50MP sensor with Optically stabilized 3x telephoto lenses and 12MP sensor with Ultrawide lenses + Autofocus. There's a dual front camera setup with 50MP sensor with Fixed focus lenses and a depth sensor to enhance face recognition and portrait photography. There are a lot of AI stuff here and there's an Image to Video Generator tool powered by Google Veo and it works with any image on the Gallery. This is the first smartphone to bring such a feature.
The Honor 400 Pro is powered by 6000mAh battery and it could be wired charged at 100W rate and wirelessly charged at 50W rate. Reverse wired and wireless charging are also available so you could charge your smart appliances in emergency situations. The device runs on MagicOS 9 powered by Android 15 and Honor promises 6 Major Android updates with sounds promising.
The smartphone comes in 3 color ways - Midnight Black, Lunar Grey & Tidal Blue. Black variant seems boring but Lunar Grey variant seems pretty nice. In Sri Lanka, the cost for the 512GB variant is Rs. 199,000. For that price, you could go for a used Apple device or Samsung S series device but if you want a Brand-new device, I think it's a "Yes" from me.
