Rio Ice cream Restaurant in Jaffna
The Jaffna Peninsula is the hub of Tamil culture in Sri Lanka. Since the civil war, Jaffna has seen an increasing number of tourists. We went to Jaffna for the third time since the war ended.

In that journey, in the evening of May 12th, we went to the Rio Ice Cream Restaurant, which is a very famous ice cream parlor in the city of Jaffna.

Anyone who has visited Jaffna never forgets to taste the variety of ice creams from that restaurant because they have a wide selection of high-quality, delicious ice cream. It is situated in Jaffna City, closer to the world-famous Nallur Kovil.

The restaurant is open from 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. Rio Ice Cream is an ice cream parlor that has achieved “cult” status in Jaffna. Ice cream at the Rio restaurant helps to cool off the unbearable heat in Sri Lanka's north. 448A, Point Pedro Road, Jaffna, Sri Lanka, is the address of the Rio ice cream parlor.

In Rio Ice Cream menu, there are more than 30 ice cream-based goods, such as fresh fruit salad, jelly, and ice cream. Therefore, the biggest challenge is choosing which ice cream to order from the price list.

And another thing, it is hard to get a seat to peacefully enjoy an ice cream because the restaurant is always packed with patrons. As it was a weekday, we had a chance to get seats without delay. If it was a holiday, we may have to stay in line for hours. Last time, as it was a Sunday, we had to wait more than an hour in the line to taste the ice cream.

The building has air conditioning within and distinct outside spaces with fans, making it a very pleasant structure.

The cost of the ice cream ranges from Rs. 150(Steem 3.33) to Rs. 1000(Steem 22.051). We purchased Rs. 500 (Steem 11.021) worth of it, and it was delicious, combining cheese, chocolate, jelly, and fruits.

That day we had to stay about an hour as it took a long time to prepare our ice-cream. We took that time to get photographs and visit the other items in the restaurant. We left the Ice-cream shop with the hope of coming again to taste another flavor.

If you get an opportunity to visit Jaffna, I request you never forget to taste the Rio ice-cream.
