The most stunning residential colony I have ever seen in Bangladesh is Kelolka Residential Colony. This residential colony is home to Bangladesh Railway officers and staff, along with their families. Bachelor quarter is also available here. I grew up in this colony as well. I therefore had many wonderful memories from various parts of this colony. This is one of my favorite places in the world. I will make an effort to explain the colony's layout, its features, and its beauty in this publication.

Colonial architecture, The Residents Of The Various Building's and Buiding Rent

The Bangladesh Railways officials and their belongings can live in the spacious Keloka Residential Colony. This is a four-cornered colony. The internal roads of this colony are also arranged in four corners. Residential buildings are located around the roads. The residential buildings are divided into different sections. Some buildings are rented by bachelor employees working in the railways.

Some buildings are occupied by 2nd class officers. And in the Officers' Colony, officers of different classes rent houses. Not all the buildings were photographed so I can't share them with you. Each building has three floors. Each building has three sections. A total of 18 families can rent in the three sections. However, if an officer or employee has a small family, he can share the rent in a unit with the family of another employee.

Some percentage is deducted from the rent of the building and the salaries of the staff or officers. However, I don't know exactly how much percentage is deducted. And the cropland in this area can be cultivated by anyone here in exchange for a small government fee. Except for government officials and employees, no one outside this area will be allowed to live or cultivate the land. Anyone can enter this area. However, to enter, one has to show identification to the security personnel at the gate.

A Few Notable Facilities in the Colony

Water supply: There are some wonderful features in this residential colony that I would like to share with you. This colony has an excellent supply of water. When I lived here, there were some problems with the water pipes, but this has now been resolved. Except for a few abandoned buildings, all buildings where people live have constant access to water. There is a large water tank in the colony.

Ponds: There are two large ponds in the colony. One pond is located on the east side of the colony, while the other is on the west side. These ponds are always filled with water and do not completely dry out even during the summer. There are several lovely seating areas along the pond's edge. You can spend your time sitting there and admiring the pond's magnificent natural beauty. Fish are farmed in these ponds. When the fish grow, they are sold to the residents here.

School: There is a beautiful school in the residential colony. I finished the majority of my primary education here. I went to Keloka Preparatory School for my nursery through fourth grade education and it was an amazing school. The school has an excellent environment.

Aside from the beautiful educational facilities, this school has a small park on its campus. There is a field in the front of the school where the school officials used to organize annual sports competitions on this field every year.

This school brings back many childhood memories for me. It is impossible to relive those golden moments, but remembering them makes me happy.

Mosque: There is a beautiful mosque which is located in the center of the colony. I have never seen a mosque located in the middle of a colony.

Sporting grounds: Apart from the sport ground in front of the school, there is another huge sporting ground in the colony. This large sporting ground located near the main entrance of the colony. Football, cricket, vollyball etc played in this ground. This is where I learned how to play these sports. Im this ground we also played many friendly matches with other colonies in the town. It allows us to learn a lot from the other talented players in town.

Electric Facilities 24/7: This colony has a great electric fascilities. Residents of this colony can always get electricity when load shedding happens throughout the town, and this type of electric facility was in operation here.

The railway workshop is not far away: Because the railway workshop is next to this colony, the officials and employees also reside here. The workshop and the colony are separated only by a wall. Living in this residential area allows the officials and staff to save money on transportation.

The Natural Beauty Of The Colony

Even though the entire town is troubled by the intense summer heat, this colony stays cool despite the harsh conditions for many of the plants there. This example demonstrates how this colony is rich in various plants.

There are a lot of huge plants around the colony. I love the streets here. The streets are always serene because of the numerous large plants that grow on both sides of them. The green paddy fields add an exceptional beauty to this place. Except for the village, the green paddy fields make us feel like we are in nature, even in the town.

You will be captivated by the colony's visually appealing green surroundings as soon as you arrive. Because there are so many green plants, paddy fields, and sports fields here, it appears to be green. I love the green atmosphere.

Conclusion

Keloka Residential Area is a well-organized railway colony. The wonderful environment and excellent facilities were exceptional. Many people may never forget this location due to the natural beauty of the surrounding area. This location holds a special place in my heart because it was where I spent my childhood and some of my adolescence.
