About Loco Machine Shop

Today I want to share something interesting about the Loco Machine Shop. It is another small shop inside the Saidpur Railway Workshop. This shop plays a very important role in the railway sector. Here, all kinds of tools and support bearings are made. Not only that, every spare part used in the railway fleet is also prepared here. The parts are cut, shaped, and made ready to be installed in engines and coaches.

What makes it even more fascinating is that this shop has various lathe machines. These machines are used to cut and shape the heavy parts of the railway. It really feels amazing to see how big and powerful parts are prepared so efficiently. Although I did not witness the process of making the parts in the machines but they looked fascinating.

The coolest things to look in the machine shop were the lathe machines. Because there were verious lathe machines. These machines look like beasts and the smell of the metals, and the feeling of seeing them is trule amazing. How skilled are the employees at this shop who control these beast-type machines, who skillfully guides the tool, reminded me of how much craftsmanship and patience needs to operate the machines. It’s not just about machines, it’s about the people operating them with skill.

When I visited the Millwright Shop, I noticed many lathe machines there. Later, in this Loco Machine Shop, I saw similar machines again. It immediately reminded me of that visit and I could see the connection between the two workshops. In my opinion, without a place like the machine shop and without the lathe machines, trains would stop not because the engines are failing, but because the right parts couldn't be found or the parts aren’t made properly here by the lathe machines.

Most of these lathe machines are quite old, but they are still actively used. Having so many lathe machines in one place clearly shows how important they are for the railway industry. From shaping raw metal to making precise parts, these machines play a vital role in keeping trains running smoothly.

It’s a bit disappointing that whenever I visit the Saidpur Railway Workshop, I don’t get the chance to see these machines in operation. I visited around noon, and I think perhaps during that time they are usually not run, which is why I missed it. Still, I feel grateful to Allah that at least I got the opportunity to see these important machines up close.

Final Thoughts

I tried to share my thoughts on how important the lathe machines of the Loco Machine Shop really are. It was fascinating to learn a little about the process of shaping and preparing different railway parts to make them suitable for use in trains. I’m sure there are many more activities that take place in this shop, and the lathe machines probably have even greater applications that might be difficult for a visitor like me to fully understand.

Still, I shared with you whatever I could learn from my visit. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed experiencing it.
