A simple and relaxing Sunday
Today was Sunday. I thought I would sleep late but still I opened my eyes early in the morning. Perhaps this has become a habit now. There was peace all around the house, only light sounds were coming from the kitchen. Got up and went to take bath, took bath with hot water. The weather was a bit cold so the hot water provided a different relief.
After bathing, my son Mohammad Uwais and I drank tea together. He started talking, sometimes about mobile, sometimes about some video. I smiled after hearing his words. Tea and conversation made the morning better.
After some time, Owais said that he had to take some things for the mobile. I also got ready. Both went to the market. He carefully examined the cover and earphones. He was holding everything and looking at it as if someone was taking a big decision. I just kept looking at him. Seeing small happiness of children gives inner peace.
When we returned home lunch was almost ready because the smell coming from the kitchen. The wife had prepared something good today. All three sat together and ate really there was a lot of talking and some laughing as well. After the meal was over I helped in small household chores.
Then I started feeling sleepy so I lay down. That afternoon sleep is something different. Silence and light all around. A short sleep made the whole body light. When I opened my eyes the golden color of the evening had spread in the room.
In the evening I went to the garden with my son. He kept playing on the swing running around and I just sat and watched. There were other children nearby, some people were walking. There was a cool breeze. Seeing him reminded me of my childhood. Life was so easy then no worries, no hurry.
When we returned home after some time, we thought of eating outside today. I told both my wife and son to get ready. All three came out and went to eat Nali Nihari. Had dinner together after a long time. The taste of food the smell of spices and the laughter of the family – everything felt wonderful.
When I returned home at night, the streets were almost empty. Sleep had appeared in the son's eyes. The wife was also tired, but her face seemed smiling. Before sleeping, I sat silently for some time and thought – today was a very ordinary day, but giving peace to the heart.
Sometimes days like these seem the best. When there is no big deal, just my people are with me and the mind feels completely light. Today's Sunday was one such day.
