Jute chalk purchasing experience
Dear friends!
I am @jubayer95 from @bangladesh.
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah. Today I have come before you to review my experience of buying jute chalk. Jute chalk is currently used mainly for fuel in our Bangladesh. However, in some cases, this jute chalk is also used by the people of very poor families for building courtyards or fences. I went to buy this jute chalk for fuel yesterday (10-09-2025), about 10 to 12 kilometers from my house, on the Wapdar bank of the Jamuna river.
From home, I and my two friends went to the Wapdar bank of the Jamuna river flowing through the chest of Kazipur upazila to buy jute chalk. Here, people from the char area gather early in the morning every Wednesday to sell this chalk. The number of sellers is the same as the number of buyers. This huge collection of jute straw looked very beautiful. Boats full of this straw are coming from the Chalchanchal and are arriving at the ghat one by one, and the Wapdar is unloading it from the boat and keeping it on the bank. The marginal farmers of the village are selling it at a comparatively low price to the wholesalers. And the wholesalers are buying it and arranging it to sell it to the customers who come from far and wide to buy it.
However, many buyers try to go very early in the morning and buy it directly from the marginal farmers who come from the Chalchanchalchal. Similarly, many sellers wait a little in the hope that if they could sell it directly to a buyer customer instead of selling it to the wholesalers, then they could make a little more profit. We also tried to buy it directly from a farmer. And that is what we did. First, I talked to a few people, asked for the price. And in this way, I checked what the market was like today by bargaining. Then I bought it according to our needs. Then I reserved a van. And we brought our watches home in this car.
The interesting thing is, after buying this watch, when we loaded it into the van and set off. Then an elder asked us for "tax". I asked what tax? He replied that it was because he had purchased our khari from here. A little surprised, I paid him the tax as he demanded.
Today's purchase of "jute chalk" was the first experience of my life. It was really extraordinary to me. I liked it very much. Whether the price of chalk is low or high. But I have had a lot of experience in purchasing this chalk and I liked the scenes of buying and selling on the riverbank very much. I liked it even more when, after coming home, everyone said, it was very good to buy khari and you bought it at a very low price.
I am a resident of the village. There is no gas supply in our village. So we have to use gas cylinder bottles or chalk for cooking. And the mothers and sisters of the village who cook, use cylinder bottles very carefully. That is, they do not use them unless they are really needed. Maybe it is raining heavily outside and it is difficult to cook on a chalk stove, or for a small need, such as heating milk/cooking curry, then you will use cylinder bottle gas. Otherwise, all these mothers and sisters in the village are used to and like cooking on a chalk stove. In this sequence, my mother, my sister and my wife are no exception.
And different types of wood are used as fuel to cook on a chalk stove.
One of the necessary fuels is jute chalk. The fuel work starts with this jute chalk.
For several days, my mother and wife have been repeatedly reminding me that the jute chalk has run out. Make arrangements as soon as possible. Today's new experience is mainly to meet this need of the family.
