Contest: The Positive Side of...// Life
Hi Steemit community,
Life has a funny way of surprising us sometimes gently, sometimes with storms we don’t see coming. I’m not here to share a perfect story, because mine isn’t perfect. But I am here to hold up a mirror to the side of life we often forget: the positive side. The part that smiles quietly when no one is watching, the part that whispers “you’re still here” when everything screams “you’re done.” Life is hard. That much is true. But it’s also kind. And worth holding on to.
When Life Got Heavy
There was a time I woke up dreading the alarm. My body felt like lead, my thoughts tangled. I wondered how I’d ended up in that place so tired, so unsure. Jobs didn’t make sense, friendships felt thin, the future looked like a cliff edge instead of a path. I saw failure in the mirror each morning: in the bills not paid, the messages unanswered, the dreams muted. I asked myself: Is this really it? The answer rattled inside me: not yet.
But then I remembered a small thing: I’m still breathing. My heartbeat still speaking the truth: you’re alive. That became my anchor. In the mess and noise, I began to listen for the few good sounds. The laughter that broke through my own doubts. The text from someone saying “thinking of you.” A work done even when I felt worn. And slowly, I realized: surviving is itself turning points.
The Hidden Wins
Today, I celebrate the wins you won’t see on social media. Waking up when I wanted to remain in bed. Finishing a book I started months ago. Baking a simple meal and letting myself taste it slowly. These wins seem small but they say: you didn’t give up. The positive side of life shows through little choices: when I choose hope over giving in. When I choose kindness even when I’m hurt. When I walk past my reflection and say: you made it this far. Life’s beauty comes not from perfection but from staying put.
I’ve learned that when you hold your parents’ hand not because they need it, but because you want them to feel your presence—that’s love. Helping your younger sibling even when you’re tired—that’s responsibility. Starting a business from a quiet hope and watching it grow—that’s belief. Life rewards the quiet fighters. The everyday strugglers. The ones who keep showing up.
Growth in Real Time
I changed. A lot. My ideas about success and happiness shifted. I realised I don’t want just a good job,I want a job I can show up for. I don’t want big friendships,I want true ones. I don’t want to chase just financial comfort,I want peace with my pace. Life taught me to strip down what wasn’t mine and hold on to what felt right.
I learned humility when I failed at something I thought would be easy. I tasted freedom when I let go of an expectation that weighed me. I understood responsibility when I started helping my parents not because they asked, but because I could. That change didn’t come overnight. It came in quiet moments: refusing to compare, apologising when I was wrong, cleaning up my mess instead of hiding it. Life’s positive side is found in growth, messy, real, unfiltered growth.
Hope in Motion
Hope is a verb. Every time I decide to keep going, I hope. Every time I let myself breathe before I rush, I hope. And though life is still hard.I still have days where I cry and feel stuck,I also have days where I smile for no reason. Where the morning sun catches my window and I think: today might be good. Where the message I send gets answered with warmth. Where I realise the business I started, small as it is, is mine.
I believe hope isn’t naive. It’s courageous. Because when you hope in the middle of uncertainty, you’re saying: I will keep going. When you choose love after you’ve been hurt, you’re saying: I still believe. That is life’s positive side.
Who Am I To You?
I am the person who’s still showing up. Not because I have all the answers, but because I’ve decided to keep walking. I am someone who’s felt the gap between where I am and where I want to be. I am not better than you—I’m beside you. I write this because I don’t want my survival to be invisible. I want the broken parts, the quiet nights, the undeniable wins to all be part of my story. And maybe your story too.
Your Turn
If you’re reading this and thinking “I’m tired,” know this: you’re not alone. If you’re saying “I don’t know what’s next,” know that not knowing is part of the path. If you believe that maybe life was supposed to be easier—you’re right. But you’re also right for still holding on. Because life is hard. It’s full of repairs and restarts. But it has a positive side.
Pause. Look around. What’s small and good in your world today? Capture it. Celebrate it. Let it matter.
Conclusion
Life isn’t just about making it to the finish line. It’s about how you carry yourself when the road gets rough. It’s about breathing when the air is thick. It’s about choosing to love when you feel unloved. The positive side of life isn’t always loud. It whispers when you survive another day. It smiles when you do the work nobody applauds. It shows when you pick yourself up again. And again.
If you worry you’re on the wrong page or running out of time: you’re okay. Because you’re alive. You’re breathing. The story continues. Life’s positive side is here in you. Let’s keep walking.
