I think people need to figure out what they want steem to be. When you have one of the developers saying that steem is not a social net work but a financial wallet there is a slight disconnect with reality somewhere along the chain. Either with the non-existent advertising department or with the actual users.

It matters not in the long run of steem though what people like you or I think, steem is not a decentralized system, it only takes two individuals to decide who the witnesses are going to be, and they are the ones that decide what direction the steem stream is going to flow.
