RE: Steem making content behind paywalls reachable by just upvoting!

in #steem8 years ago (edited)

Yes, imagine Steemit but switch every current post with kickstarter project. In the best scenario there will be a Kickstarter site built just using Steem technology.

It could work just the same, but instead of using your credit card, you will be using votes or transferring SBD and Steem. The different funding tiers and rewards could be kept just the same.

Now you might think, what if the funding level isn't reached? Well in Steem every post has a 7 day payout window so if the target isn't reached before that, users with this option enabled via settings will automatically have their vote cancelled. This should reward back your voting power used.

Sort:

actually, what you just described is sort of what EOS wants to do for distributed apps, which would also potentially include music apps and such, which could also interface with the STEEM blockchain...

Thank you for providing this link. I've only seen one representation so far of EOS and it was quite amazing, almost too good to be true! Will look in to this.

I think quite a few people think that, until they realize it's Dan Larimer's new project (Dan, who also built STEEMIT), and if anyone's got a shot at pulling it off, it'd be him. Seems he's sort of becoming the "Elon Musk" of the blockchain world. lol

I've noticed that the more time I spend reading about his work, the more I'm impressed. That is a good sign. He isn't afraid to do things differently and tinker so I applaud him for that. EOS will bring crypto to whole new level if it delivers and if that happens, for sure he will be thought as one of the Elon Musk type people operating in this space.

I love it! So, Steemsongs will be the first to do it? Or are there any other working examples out there?

Currently Steemsongs is the first service planning to do this that I'm aware of.

But will probably be one of many. Every content provider, from physical content to digital and from small to big could use this service instead of having their users submit credit cards.
