When it comes to kickstarting new projects, i think it's just immediately good to start off with writing out ideas in the open before becoming a proper project. The Kickstarter model is a good way to gauge interest and develop based on community inputs, the steem model of kickstarting ideas since day 1 of dreaming up of the idea and see where it goes based on interest and input is a much better way of doing it.. i think.
