RE: HF20.. How it fucked minnows and plankton and will fuck us all eventually!

I think they are trying new things.

The platform needs new users, but let's face it, most new users leave the platform after one month or so and are never seen again.

By making people invest a bit of their skin, they are hoping for a better rate of retainment of new members.

As we were, there were a lot of people signing in every week... But how many stayed? Only a handful, if that many.

I say we give this change some time. We can't judge it in such a short period.

Sort:

It might also mean that a minnow quickly finds a community, or at least a senpai, who will delegate them a little bit of SP and help integrate the newbie into a community that comes with orientation, training, upvotes, comments and other support. Either way works; SP skin or social skin in the game.
Sent you an SBI for the comment.

Thanks for that. I have read about it but it's my first.

Currently takes about a week to be assigned to you. But, yeah, I quite like what SBI is doing so I splash them about. 1 isn't worth much but keep on accumulating.

Thanks, again. Yesterday I won a raffle so I will start off with 2 SBI. Nice!

Also means minnows might just give up and leave since they are forced to either invest $100 USD or make 3 posts/comments/votes a day so they can basically make 1 comment, a post and upvote someone that lands up being worthless since its rounded down now so why bother there.. They just have no reason to exist anymore.. WHERE are the new users? HOW is getting new users solved by this upgrade? That is what they sold us on remember?? RC would make getting new users on the platform faster and better.. WELL sure seems like the OPPOSITE to me!

Easier to get new users refers to the new account creation rules: you can burn RC or pay STEEM.

Not sure what that has to do with the fact that new users are still having to wait weeks to get approved and the amount of new users being created has gone down not up the last month..

And yet it did the OPPOSITE! I know of whales and dolphins (including myself) who NEVER powered down until last week.. Now we are all taking SP OUT and moving to other platforms.. If they wanted to kill steem they did a damn good job of it!
