This is of wonderful practical significance as it means a direct link between the labour expended on the steemit platform and the servicing of real world obligations.
Not only does this exclude the banking system from the users' perspective but it avoids the need to convert through other cryptos.

Well said! It's going to be so much easier to get Aussies on steem with this , I have a heap of mates who are completely oblivious to the crypto world - taking bitcoin out of the equation completely makes this much easier to explain :D

Good point actually. To have a concrete example of the benefits of use is the first step in winning the minds of those with value to share. For some, it needs to more than just a concept.
