It all depends if there is demand for steem the currency. It doesnt even need to reach critical mass as long as the demand for steem is there. I wrote a post about this but no one seem to care https://steemit.com/steem/@snowflake/fu-k-this-bs-today-ima-gonna-be-on-the-trending-page
