"SLC26-W4 | Street Business Diaries: Service-based professions."
I am so much interested to participate in this new contest of season26 week 4 organized by @max-pro so that participants can tell us about the different service they offers in their country. So here is my participation on the above topic
What types of service-based occupations are most in demand in your area? (Barber, mechanic, watch/glasses repairer, van ice cream vendor, etc.)
In Nigeria, we have different kinds of service-based occupations in which most customers patronize on a daily basis to enjoy a quality of life. The major services that are highly demanded in Nigeria are mechanics, barbers, vulcanizers, and tricycle repair. Private cars, as well as commercial vehicles, visit mechanic shops to service their vehicles and also make some adjustments.
Vulcanizers can also be seen on the streets, where they attend to people whose car tyres have spoiled. Many customers visit barbershops to shave their heads and beards so that they can look nice throughout the day. This mostly occurs during weekends when people do not go to work. All these service-based professionals generate income for most people who offer these services to the general public.
Have you ever used these services yourself or purchased anything? Show pictures + videos and show their prices.
Some of the materials for the tricycle are always expensive in the market. The reason why they are always high in the market is that they are used for commercial purposes.
Once you purchase one material today, the following day, another amount of money will be added to it, including the services they offer to their customers. Charges on all general service varies from one workshop to another where some technician may charge exorbitant fees whereas others may reduce their charges to attract more customers.
Items | Nigeria currency | steem |
---|---|---|
Tyre | 30,000 naira | 153 Steem |
Engine oil | 9,000 naira | 45.7 Steem |
Service fees to pour the old oil away | 500 naira | 2.5 Steem |
Were you satisfied at the end of the work or were you ever disappointed?
Although I do not have a tricycle, I believe that in the future I may have one. So, I made an inquiry with a tricycle owner about the services that some workshops normally offer them. This workshop is not far from where I live, and I always see tricycle operators visiting this place in order to repair some damages to their machines.
The owner visits this place frequently, which shows how hardworking they are by ensuring that the owners enjoy their services as much as possible.

Every day, I always see them working, including on weekends, and even if their boss is not available at that time, you will see those boys who are learning from him attending to the customers with respect.
Do people appreciate the work of the shopkeeper? If you have personal experience, please tell us.
If customers do not see the positive change due to the service they offer, they will not see most of the tricycle owners come to their shop to find solutions to the problems that occur with their machines. As the shopkeeper or technician, they will first test the tricycle after finishing it to know other areas that need work.
Both young and old technicians know how to drive tricycles because they have been taught how to handle them. Riding a tricycle is part of their work, so it is important for both young and old to learn how to drive this tricycle, especially if the boss is not around. So, all I see is that they offer the best service to their customers; that's why they are so commonly patronized.
