Simple Garage with an Elegant Touch
That morning, the sunlight shone on my welding shop on the edge of the village rice field, a middle-aged man, Mr. Samsul, stood staring at the empty frame for his garage door. He wanted something different, not just an ordinary iron door, but a work that combined strength and aesthetics.
"I want a comb motif, so it looks neat but still sturdy," he said while pointing at a simple sketch on the paper. I nodded, understanding the direction of the design he meant.
The material chosen is 20x40 mm hollow, the ideal size to form the vertical striped pattern typical of the comb motif. This material is strong enough to withstand the load, but remains light to facilitate the opening and closing of the hopper. The challenge lies in precision, all lines must be perfectly parallel, the distance between the hollows must be consistent so that the comb effect is truly felt.
We started by making the main frame using 30x90 hollow iron as a support. After that, one by one we cut the hollow rods to size and welded them carefully. Each connection was rechecked so that there was no tilt at all. Mr. Samsul even watched the progress several times, occasionally giving comments, but more often smiling with satisfaction.
The most interesting part is when the pattern begins to form. From a distance, the rows of lines form a simple yet captivating texture, like a giant comb that organizes air and light. In the daytime, the shadows from the hollow rods create silhouettes on the striped floor, giving a unique visual effect.
even though this project is only 70% ready to be worked on, my heart and also Mr. Samsul, the owner, are already happy to see the temporary results. God willing, in a few days, we can install the eight garage doors at Mr. Samsul's house.
From this small project, I learned one thing, sometimes the simplest can be the most impressive, as long as it is done carefully, with intention and love for every detail.
