Nasi Uduk Kutaradja

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah hiwabarakutu.
This time, I will try to participate in a challenge held by our friend @maks-pro with the theme Street Business Diaries: Street Food and Snacks. When I read this title, I wanted to share a story about a nasi uduk seller who struggles to support his family by selling nasi uduk on the outskirts of Lhokseumawe City. The nasi uduk is named Nasi Uduk Kutaradja.

What kinds of street food are available in your city or area?

There are various types of street food available in Lhokseumawe City. These include fried bananas, fried rice, nasi uduk, kebabs, and mie caluk. One of the most delicious is Nasi Uduk Kutaradja. Nasi Uduk Kutaradja is located on the outskirts of the city. This nasi uduk has a unique flavor. Many customers come and go to order or take away the rice. The menu at Nasi Uduk Kutaradja includes chicken, duck, catfish, tilapia, shrimp, and squid.

Have you eaten these foods yourself? Show their taste and price in pictures+videos.

Nasi Uduk Kutaradja has an open-air frying process. A large pan filled with boiling oil is used to fry all the food requested by customers.

I have often bought and eaten this nasi uduk to fill my stomach and my family’s. The Nasi Uduk I often buy is with shrimp and squid. Here are the price details for Nasi Uduk Kutaradja. Rice with chicken: Rp. 15,000 (6.84 Steem), duck: Rp. 15,000 (6.84 Steem), catfish: Rp. 15,000 (6.84 Steem), tilapia: Rp. 15,000 (6.84 Steem), shrimp Nasi Uduk Rp. 20,000 (9.12 Steem), and squid Nasi Uduk Rp. 20,000 (9.12 Steem).

What did you learn about the owner’s struggles?

The owner of Nasi Uduk Kutaradja is named Bang Wanto. Bang Wanto started his nasi uduk business in 2021. Since the coronavirus pandemic hit, many jobs have disappeared, including Bang Wanto's. By the end of 2021, Bang Wanto had to find a new job to support his family. After searching several places, none of them accepted him. Finally, with patience and perseverance, Bang Wanto came up with the idea to open a nasi uduk cart. With the support of his wife and family, the cart successfully started operating, and many customers began to visit

What are your thoughts on the importance of small street food businesses in our society?

Street food businesses, such as Bang Wanto's Nasi Uduk Kutaradja, are beneficial for meeting the needs of low-income and disadvantaged communities. Disadvantaged individuals can purchase food at affordable prices, keeping the city's economy moving. No one goes hungry because they cannot afford food.
