I hope you all are doing well. Today I am going to participate in this contest, and for it, I decided to share about a stall near my home. This stall is actually a “two-in-one” because the seller keeps both fresh fruits and vegetables together.
We have been buying from him for a long time, and his products are always very fresh. He talks to everyone kindly and deals with customers in a very polite way, which makes people like him even more.
His cart is set up very close to our house, and since our area is a little far from the main city, we don’t have many vegetable shops nearby. That is why this stall is very helpful for many people in our neighborhood. Every morning he brings fresh fruits and vegetables from the wholesale market (mandi )and sells them at reasonable prices, which makes it easier for everyone to afford.
The seller is an uncle who has been running this stall alone for many years. He usually opens his stall around 8 in the morning and keeps it open till 7 in the evening. One thing that I really admire is that in the evening, if any vegetables are left unsold, he distributes them among poor people free of cost. This act of kindness brings happiness to many, and I feel it is something very special about him.
01 What items are in the highest demand in your area? (fruit or vegetable or fish markets)
When I talked with the seller uncle about which items are in the highest demand these days, he told me that in summer season, people mostly buy lemons and cucumbers. Because of the extreme heat, many people use lemons to make refreshing drinks like shikanji (lemonade) and other cold beverages . Cucumbers and carrots are also purchased a lot since they are used in salads, and in our area salad is eaten almost every day with meals.
He mentioned that whenever he brings lemons in bulk, they are always sold out by evening. Even though lemon prices have recently gone high in the market, customers still buy them in large quantity because of their daily need.
Apart from these, okra (ladyfinger) is another vegetable that sells a lot. People use it in their regular cooking, and many customers buy it in good quantity because it is a favorite in many homes.
From fruits, he said that mangoes are the most demanded item these days as it is mango season. Mangoes are used not only for eating but also for making juices, desserts, and different dishes. Since our region produces a lot of mangoes, they are available here at lower prices compared to other places.
People even buy them in bulk to send as gifts to their relatives in other cities. Along with mangoes, apples are also sold in good quantity. Because of their reasonable price and taste, many people prefer to buy apples regularly.

Usually, my mother is the one who buys vegetables from this stall, but for this contest I especially told her that I also wanted to go with her and make a visit myself. The stall is just a little distance away from our home, so I went there along with my mother. We bought vegetables and fruits, and at the same time, I also took pictures and made videos for this contest.
Before taking photos and videos, I first asked the seller uncle for permission. Since he already knows our family and we often talk with him, he happily gave me permission and said, “Yes beta, you can make pictures and videos.” He was very kind and supportive, which made me feel comfortable while doing this.
We regularly buy vegetables and fruits from this stall because everything here is fresh and reasonably priced. Our family has been buying from him for a long time, and almost every day we get our vegetables and fruits from him only.

03 What kind of special methods or offers do sellers use to attract customers?
Yes, there are definitely some tricks that sellers use to attract more customers. First of all, the seller uncle has chosen a very good location for his cart. He placed it on the main road where there is no other fruit or vegetable stall nearby.
Because of this, many people from nearby towns and neighborhoods come to him for their daily shopping. Even those who are just passing by on the road often stop and buy something from him. This choice of location is one of the main reasons his stall gets so many customers.
Another method he uses is his polite and friendly behavior. He always welcomes customers with a smile and thanks them when they leave. This makes people feel respected and happy, so they return again and again to buy from him.
He also keeps his stall well arranged and clean. Fruits are placed on one side, and vegetables are placed on the other, making everything look neat and attractive. Customers are more likely to buy when they see fresh and nicely arranged items.
Sometimes, he even gives a little extra fruit or vegetable to customers as a kind gesture. For example, if someone buys a bag of vegetables, he might add one or two extra items free of cost. This small act makes customers feel happy and valued, and they leave with a smile.
04 How important do you think the role of these businesses is in health and nutrition?
These businesses play a very important role in people’s lives because they directly affect our health and nutrition. When we buy and eat good quality and fresh fruits and vegetables, our health stays strong, and we can also protect ourselves from many diseases.
Fresh fruits are always good for our body, but when fruits get old, sometimes insects or worms attack them, and eating such fruits can cause different illnesses in our body. That is why fresh and healthy food keeps us fit and also makes us feel fresh.
If I talk about my own observation, in some places where these vegetables and fruits grow, the farmers don’t always use clean water. Instead, they use dirty water which is very harmful for our health.
I have also seen in news reports that in many areas, vegetables are grown with waste water, and those vegetables are extremely dangerous for our health. Eating them can cause serious problems for our body.
That’s why it is very important that we eat only fresh fruits and vegetables that are grown with clean water. Such food is always best for our health and keeps our body strong and active.
