The theme of today's engagement challenge is SLC27-W1 | A One-Day Street Journalist: Festival-centric business. So let's get started.

This is the first time that a huge fair has been organized in Gazipur. The fair was originally held on September 19. Every year, a big fair is held in Gazipur at Rajbari Ground or at a place called Rathkhola, but this year, the first Gazipur Cottage Industry and Trade Fair 2025 has been held in the entire Shimultali. This fair will last for at least a month and more. So every day, many people come to this fair to enjoy the fair. There are many shops inside this fair. Various shops have daily necessities, children's toys, various foods, various cloth shops, rights, various product shops, etc. Traders from different places have set up shops in this fair.

What are the festival-oriented businesses in your area?

Like other regions, our region also hosts various social or religious festivals every year. However, there are different types of small businesses centered around each festival. Among these businesses, there are various shops during various fairs or festivals, such as during puja festivals, etc. However, there are some common shops in each fair, including various sweet shops, various toy shops for children, shops selling women's clothes or cosmetics, etc., and various types of food shops. Those who visit these festivals or fairs usually visit these shops and buy these products or foods. The festive atmosphere for these small businesses further enhances their beauty.

Why are people more attracted to street shops during festivals?

During any festival, various types of shops are located on the side of the road. The products inside these shops are neatly arranged and the decorations of the shops are very beautiful, there are also various types of lighting that attract any person. In addition, the goods in all these shops are comparatively cheap, the goods here are daily necessities, women's cosmetics and tempting food shops. That is why people are more attracted to these festival shops.

Of course, these businesses are contributing to the preservation of local culture. There are shops of Bangladesh cottage industries here. There are various local products of their own country that are available in these fairs. All the traders maintain the tradition of the country. Since ancient times, these shops have been selling products from their own region during various festivals and fairs. This makes the country's festival culture apt for these businesses. Because during these festivals, most people go around and buy something from these shops.
