Hello my steemian friends,

This is my participation in the contest” SLC26-W6 | Street Business Diaries: Exceptional and unknown businesses hosted by @max-pro

In most countries, education is proving to be very expensive. My country has a population of approximately 1.4 billion. Most of our people are either poor or middle-class. Parents from middle-class families dream of a bright future for their children. To achieve this dream, they are willing to go to any lengths, striving to make their children doctors, engineers, and lawyers. In this race, parents struggle with their own modest and financial constraints.

An acquaintance of mine, Saxena, had two children. The elder one, Vivek, was a very bright student. He had scored over 90% in every subject until high school. Saxena's dream was to continue achieving high scores and become a doctor. At that time, Saxena was unaware that to become a doctor, one must first take an entrance test, and based on their merit, students are admitted to universities. To prepare for this test, children study the subject for one or two years. Vivek then passed his intermediate exams with good marks, and his father was overjoyed. Now he had to prepare for the NEET. In our country, government schools provide books for students up to intermediate level either free of charge or at very low prices.

But NEET books are very expensive, far beyond the reach of ordinary people. Hearing the price, both Saxena and Vivek became disheartened. Saxena then consulted me. I told him that the NEET syllabus hadn't changed in years, and only a few people in the city traded used books. I then took his son to the bookstore, where Vivek was astonished by the books available.

Saxena and Vivek's problem was solved. The bookseller had given them all the books at 60% off the original price and promised to return them at 40% after reading them. This meant they could only read the books at a 20% discount. So, assuming the entire course cost ₹50,000, they were available for just ₹10,000.

Thus, Saxena and Vivek's problem was solved. He bought all his books from there and prepared for the exam with utmost honesty, hard work, and dedication. As a result, he was selected for MBBS in the first attempt and got admission in a government medical college where the fees are negligible. Vivek studied diligently and became a doctor after five years. Today, his father's chest swells with pride. A poor father, with limited resources, fulfilled his child's dream and his own. Saxena still thanks me for that advice. I still advise all the middle-class families I know to buy books from that bookseller.

Now it's time to answer the contest questions:

01 What is the most sought-after unique product in your area?
Since I live in the National Capital Region of Delhi, this area is a hub of education. Many students from India and abroad come here to study. We have numerous universities, colleges, and medical colleges, serving millions of students. Therefore, there is a huge demand for books here. By the way, my city is also a global exporter of sports equipment; cricketers from all over the world play cricket with bats made here.
02 Have you ever purchased anything from these shops? Show photos and videos and also tell me their prices.
I have often purchased expensive books for my children and my friends' children from this second-hand book seller. These books are only 20% less than when purchased here. Let's say a book costs 2500 rupees, and they sell it to us for 1500 rupees, and after reading it, we buy it back for 1000 rupees.

03 How do you think these products impact people's lives?
This remarkable experiment has relieved poor, ordinary, and middle-class families of many problems. Many poor children fulfill their dreams by purchasing books from here.

04 Do you think these extraordinary businesses are making a significant contribution to society?
These extraordinary businesses are making a significant contribution to the progress and development of the poor sections of society.
I spoke with this bookseller to participate in this competition. He told me that he's been doing this work for the past 50 years. His father used to do this work, and now he's doing it. I asked him how he copes with the cold, heat, and rain on the open street. He told me that he faces many difficulties. The sun all day makes it difficult to survive without a roof. It's freezing cold in the winter and extremely hot in the summer. During the rainy season, he uses tarpaulin or plastic sheets to protect his books and stays in a shed. He doesn't earn much from this work, but he doesn't have any other experience. The shopkeeper's son, Vansh, is currently in the 11th grade and also intends to pursue this profession.

And then finally I gave my heartfelt best wishes to the shopkeeper and his son for the progress of their business and thanked them for doing this noble work.
