INTRODUCTION

Proverbs are beyond combining letters to form words. They are words that require thoughtfulness before understanding the meaning that they carry. I would say that Proverbs are like meals prepared by our forefathers, served to the elders of the land and equally consumed by both the elders of the land and their young ones. Proverbs are used to communicate thoughts that could inspire, direct, instruct, or warn people. This means that the lives of people are shaped by the meaning of the Proverbs spoken by the elders of the land.

I have been around with some elders including my late father. During my time with them, I heard them saying one or two Proverbs that are true and convey serious meaning to this present time and in the future. In this contest, I would be sharing some of these Proverbs as this contest requires.

Here are the words of our elders spoken in Proverbs

Why I believe that sayings are true

Proverbs are born out of life experiences. There was a time just few years ago in the country when the government tried to retrieve the old currency notes in circulation and introduce a new designed currency notes.

This policy sparked panic among traders and the working class. It happened to an extent that, people were selling their millions of old currency notes at a very small amount to banks and other merchants. In the course of this, a lot of people were sent out of business including me as a result of the policy. I had to sell off my goods at a loss as the customers were not coming. They were also fighting to survive.

As the new government came in board, the policy was reversed and the old and new currency were now used together in circulation. Those who sold their millions regretted the action.

The point I am making here is that, those who thought their lives has come to an end because of the harsh policy, are now back in their various businesses.

Do you think the relevance of this proverb will be preserved in the next few generations to come

My answer to this question is YES! These Proverbs had been existing even before we were born. As our fathers has told us about them, we would also transfer them to our children and it continues to be relevant till the end of time

I now invite these persons to participate in this contest:

Seems you had great days and memories with your dad and elders because these proverbs are not merely from anyhow person but those who were rooted in wisdom.

I'd love to get more list of your proverbs and meanings so I suggest you make a part for this, thank you in advance for considering this opinion of mine.

Lastly, participating in this contest is something I'd love to do but as my proverbs bank are not full, I'll rather thread with caution.
