Exercising is one of the healthy habits that someone should be doing on a regular basis. It improves our mental, physical, and emotional well-being.
Yoga is an exercise that links the body, mind and breath together. This exercise involves physical positions, deep breathing and meditation. It does not require a noisy environment to practice and so should be done in a cool and calm environment.
Show how effective yoga exercise could be, those who practice it does it for two main reasons as:
- A means of reducing stress
- A way of exercising
I have been practicing this yoga exercise for the past three years when I came across it online. Since then, it has become an important exercise that I have to when I become stressed up.
On a particular day, I was reading up an article online about how Yoga could enhance ones physical and mental health respectively. I searched for the kind of yoga exercise that suit me.
How it has improved physical, mental, or emotional health
Before I started practicing this yoga exercise, I was going through some serious stress. I was not stable emotionally. As I started the exercise, I started overcoming the stress and gaining emotional stability. Even in times challenges, I approached them with peace of mind without going through violent means.
The challenges I face while trying to keep up with it
Starting or forming a new habit and then keeping up to it, may not be all that easy. The yoga exercise is recommended to be performed early in the morning so that you begin your day with a new strength or energy and focus. It makes you to approach your day with a free and broad mind at ease.
Although this exercise has really helped to gain a great deal of stress free life, keeping up to it has not been easy. To make the most out of this exercise, I had to wake up early in the morning to do it. The practice takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes consistently everyday. I do it before going to work.
The challenge for me here is that when I don't wake up early enough in the morning, I would be running short of time to do it. If I see that I would not have much time to prepare for work after doing it, then I would not do it at all for that day. So time constraints is the challenge I have for this exercise. When I wake up late in the morning, I would not do it to enable me prepare and go to work.
The advice I would give to someone who wants to start this habit too
We go through a lot of challenges in life which seem to confront our peace of mind and mental health. Yoga is a good exercise that anyone could practice. When you feel stressed or emotionally unstable, yoga could be the best exercise one could consider. For instance, If you are losing sleep, there is a Yoga practice to have a good and quality sleep.
When you start to practice it, you start to gain strength and ideas to pursue your goals. Yoga really improves our mental health and helps to gain peace of mind. If you can create time for it in the morning or do it before going to bed, you would see it is worth doing.
