Hidden skills, Loud cheers
What an interesting contest this is. It os not limited to one particular thing but open to any thing you know you are capable of doing and can think of.
You know many don't believe in themselves and don't know what they are capable of. But reading through several entries in this contest will definitely help so many see that they can do so many things.
For me, what I am going to present may seem funny, but that is one of the things I love doing.
My Video
What talent or skill are you showing us today? Explain
This is one my talents so far. It is a form of exercise plus meditation program. It is called squatting on one leg. To do this, you will need to stand and assume a squatting position, then cross one of your legs as if you are sitting down. You can spread your arms to give you some balance or fold it as if you are praying. Which ever way, the aim is to maintain your balance just by being supported on one leg. Hahaha, it seems funny and easy right, but it is worth the try.
How did you discover you could do this?
Whenever I practice this, it reminds me of a story which I read so many years back about a chef and his master. The chef cooked a goose meat and it's aroma was so tantalizing that he decided to eat one leg of the goose.
When he served the master the remaining whole part of the goose with one leg, the master questioned why only one leg? The chef now said that geese only have one leg. He now promised to take him where they used to sleep in the night. When they got there, the geese had already gone to sleep standing on only one leg. His master never knew that when a goose is sleeping, It stands on only one leg instead of two legs. That was the first time I tried it out.
When I watch some movies too, I see actors practicing it and was moved to also do the same. I also noticed that Yoga Masters and teachers practice it a lot and recommend it to their patients too. This I have been doing for over 20 year now and have been enjoying it.
How often do you use this talent in real life?
I use it as often as I can. Like I said, it is recommended to yoga students to practice and also help some patients. I always do it when I am annoyed to regain my composure. You know, you cannot stand on one leg when you are angry, so an easy way to let go of anger is to try doing it. You will notice that your mind will gradually divert from the source of your anger to trying to maintain your balance and composure while standing on one leg. It also helps with meditation when you do it and close your eyes, refusing to be perturbed by all the noise around you. It can also help you notice when you re becoming overweight. Because it will be very difficult to assume that position with your added weight in the upper part of the body. So you can see the real life benefit which I derive from doing this.
What would you do with this skill if the whole world noticed it?
If the whole world notices it, I will ensure that the entire world practices it. The elderly ones can sit with their two legs crossed for meditation and relaxation, while the younger ones can practice it to defuse their anger at the moment, thus preventing them from acting in a rash manner. I will educate them the more on why they should practice it, to improve their health and mental abilities. Many people around rhe world also lacks the ability to concentrate on things, practicing these can help them develop that quality of concentration.
My major aim is to use it to save as many lives as possible.
I invite @wizzboy3, @ngoenyi and @whitie to join in this contest.
