**Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 104: Debate: Riding a bicycle or driving a car **
Bicycle riding have become famous in almost all parts of the earth. From the rural to the urban areas, we see bicycle being used. In the rural areas, it is used as a means of transportation and as a load carrier.
In the urban areas, it majorly serves as a means of transportation to short distances. In fact, in some areas within the some major cities in world, cycling is the only moving object allowed for movement.
Cars provides such services too but much more than bicycles.
This contest is about which of the two is more easier to learn; is it driving a bicycle or riding a car? The contest tips will guide me in giving my view on this question.
Do you know how to ride a bicycle or a car?
I am one of the fortunate persons to learn how both to ride a bicycle and to drive a car. I learnt riding a bicycle when I was between 9 to 10 years. This was made possible because my family relocated to the countryside then and it was majorly the means of transportation there, especially when going to our farm through track roads and carrying the produce from the farm home.
I also know how to drive a car. My dad had a car back then and I watched him a lot while he is driving.
So yes, I know how to drive and ride both.
Share the story of how you learnt to ride a bicycle or drive a car or both. ?
I also know how to drive a car. I learnt a lot from observation. Just by watching my dad drive, I learnt how to move stick cars around, which was in vogue back then. Then later on, I was put through on how to drive in a driving school before hitting the roads. It was then I realized that some car brands have different car gear selection methods. For instance, if you have been driving Toyota brand of cars and now you are being asked to drive a Kia brand, you have to learn how to use the gear selection stick because they are not the same.
I remembered back then, when I was cleaning my dad's car, I started fumbling with the gear stick, trying to learn the different selection methods. Unfortunately, I left the gear on neutral, and the car started rolling down since it was parked on an elevated place. I quickly sprung into action, looked for a big stone around, carried it and placed in front of one of the back tyres, then quickly went inside the car and placed the car on gear one.
I was shocked at what happened. From then on, I never played with the gear stick again.
I was guided by my parents while learning to ride a bicycle. I learnt bicycle riding with a big sized bicycle. Some of my mates were taunting me because I don't know how to ride it. So I told my parents that I have to learn it and they supported me.
Tell us your opinion on which is more easier to learn, riding a bicycle or driving a car? Support with reasons.
To learn both were not easy. Granted, during the time that I was learning to ride bicycle, I sustained some injuries in the course of learning how to ride. But I continued despite all odds and learnt it. I later mastered the art and have continued to enjoy riding bicycle any time that I have the opportunity.
I would say that learning how to drive was a bit easier for me than learning how ride a bicycle. I never sustained any injury while learning how to drive. Driving a car requires less physical energy but much mental alertness. One of the safety rules while driving.os to assume that everyone seen on the road is a mad person. So you drive to protect both yourself and all.other drivers on the road.
So conclusively, I would say that driving was much easier to learn that that of riding a bicycle.
