Proverb : “Ati Love Tanti Nast.”

We often hear this saying in Bengali proverbs, it means – excessive greed brings down a person and here the word Tanti is a symbolic character, which refers to a person who loses his skills, wealth or position due to greed.

My experience : Last month I made a profit of about 12% from my crypto trading portfolio, I was very happy with this achievement. I thought I was moving in the right direction but suddenly an uptrend of a meme coin caught my eye, due to greed I opened a big trade with my entire trading fund at once without any planning. At first everything was looking good, I got a quick 5-6% profit and then I should have saved it but greed did not let me. I thought, “No, if I wait a little longer, maybe I will get double the profit.” This is where I made a big mistake, in a short while the market started going against me and as a result I faced a loss of about 35-40%. To be honest, I felt really bad at that time. It seemed like a moment of greed ruined all my plans but instead of getting discouraged, I gradually got over myself. I was able to recover about 30% of the loss gradually and I am trying to recover it all. This experience taught me that – be it trading or any other area of life, greed brings us down. As the saying goes, “Excessive greed ruins the weaver.” This experience of mine is a real example of that. Now I have realized that there is no substitute for a plan, strategy and patience in trading.

"Too much greed ruins a weaver"—the proverb is not just a collection of words, it is a harsh lesson from real life, my teachers often used this proverb when they explained to us the bad side of greed. Although it seemed like a mere advice to them at the time, a life experience taught me its deep meaning. I first heard this proverb in my primary school, when one of our teachers, who could explain difficult things in very simple language, said, "No matter how big you become in life, never let greed impose itself on you. Remember, too much greed ruins a weaver." At that time, I did not understand the importance of these words, because for us, 'being ruined' only meant doing poorly in exams or losing in sports, but when I grew up, the true meaning of this proverb came to me.

Yes, this proverb will remain the same for future generations because greed is a basic human instinct, technology may change with time, the type of social system may change, but the tendency of people to be greedy will probably never completely disappear. Whenever a person destroys his morality or the balance of his life in the hope of excess profit, this proverb will prove true. For example, in today's digital age, people are losing everything by investing in online scams or cryptocurrencies in the greed of getting rich quick. Here the weavers have changed but the main story of being ruined by greed is the same. This proverb is not just a description of an incident, it is a deep moral lesson. It teaches that if greed cannot be controlled, its consequences are bad, future generations may live in the era of artificial intelligence or space technology, but they too will have to understand the difference between right and wrong, justice and injustice in their lives. This proverb teaches how a person can bring about his own destruction due to excessive greed. It is an eternal truth, which will remain equally effective even after the boundaries of time.

This your write-up makes a lot of sense. You broke it down clearly that greed never really changes, it’s just the tools people use that have modernized. True talk, whether it’s a crypto scam or old hustling, once a person becomes too greedy, trouble will follow. The proverb is still valid for today and tomorrow. Nice reasoning.
