A healthy habit can be seen as a routine conduct or behaviour that enhances or promotes the well-being of an individual. For example, eating habits, tooth brushing, sleeping well, etc. The impact of this habit may not be seen immediately but it goes a long way to prevent diseases.
What is one healthy habit you practice regularly
The one healthy habit I practice regularly is brushing my teeth twice a day. In the morning, I brush immediately after my breakfast, and it is also the last thing I do before going to bed. It has taken me time to master or get used to the habit, but it has impacted me greatly.

When and why did you start this habit?
I started this healthy habit some years ago when I began to sense some pain in my tooth. I went to a dentist and he diagnosed me with having a food impaction. Food impaction is a situation where food gets stuck between teeth, which causes pain and irritation. As such, he advised me to start brushing twice a day. In the morning, after breakfast, and at night, before going to bed.
How has it improved your physical, mental, or emotional health?
The morning and night brushing has greatly improved my physical, emotional and mental health.
Physical health
It has helped to keep my teeth clean by removing all stains and giving me a good smile.
Emotionalhealth & mental health
It has positively heightened my mood and social confidence by allowing me to talk everywhere and very close to other people without fear of breath smell. It has also erased the fear of having a dental problem that may come as a result of poor oral hygiene.

What challenges did you face while trying to keep up with it?
The challenge I had was with the night brushing. Sometimes I forget to brush and sometimes I eat even after brushing. But with time, I overcame all these challenges, and today it has become a habit for me that I must brush after breakfast and the last thing before I go to bed.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start this habit too?
The advice I will give to someone who wants to start the habit of brushing twice is to:
- Attach breakfast and dinner with brushing of teeth.
- Set an alarm on the phone as a reminder for brushing immediately after the meal.
- The toothbrush should be kept in a place where it can be seen easily as a form of reminder.
