Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 105: 🌿Healthy Habit 🌿
Hello steemians, today I will be sharing one of the habits I practice every day. Having a healthy habit/routine will help us live s fulfilling life and help us maintain a proper standard of living.
What is one healthy habit you practice regularly?
One of the healthy habits that I practice every day is making sure that I stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water 💦 and also having enough sleep 💤. I do this every day of my life because I know that for the food I have consumed to be digested and for other metabolic activities to take place, there must be enough water. They are one of the healthy habits that I encourage other individuals to partake in because it also helps to remove waste products through our sweat.
As for sleeping 😴, I make sure that when I am sleeping it's at the right time. The importance of sleep in my life has been unpredictable, because I have been able to easily comprehend what to do next and be an active member of my family, it has helped me stay in shape and improved my mental reasoning, all the brain 🧠 to rest helps bulid it into something better than AI, I have seen that I don't think 💬 too much before making accurate decisions.
When and why did you start this habit?
I started this habit about three months ago. Actually, I began drinking plenty of water after knowing that it helps the kidneys and liver perform their work, like removing waste fluids and allowing the liver to save energy as glycogen. This habit was also picked up when my mother told me it was necessary to consume at least 14-16 cups which is approximately 4 liters of water per day. I experienced this firsthand when I was in a bus with a driver from my area who was saying that he had something like a stone in his stomach, and the doctor said that it was because he was not drinking the required amount of water needed by the body.
This caused him to have the so-called illness. He later told me that he had been operated on and the process was successful, and he currently takes the required amount of water to prevent any more casualties. As for the sleeping habit, which is one of the necessary habits needed by man all day, I didn't sleep until 5am in the morning because I was watching a movie. I slept till 5pm in the evening, and from that day, I said to myself that I wouldn't let anything deprive me of having a good sleep, which was for my own benefit. This was because I felt weak that day, I could hardly stand up, and I almost got beaten by my mom. I had a severe headache and it made to get to the hospital within the next two days.
How has it improved your physical, mental, or emotional health?
Making sure that I drink plenty of water has made my system more efficient and durable. I can now work without getting thirsty, even without having enough water at my disposal, because I make sure I drink enough water, or rather, come prepared. I have also been able to remove excess salt through sweat and urine by staying hydrated. Sleeping has also made me stay in the right frame of mind, being agile and strong for my daily activities.
Once I sleep to the fullest, I have the energy to do what is needed every day. They was a time were my friend didn't sleep until 2pm and the next day his face was not looking like someone healthy he was really weak, I advised him to sleep when it is due, urging him to make use of a time management strategy to prevent going to bed at such hour, so it must say that sleeping has help in preventing certain diseases by allowing the body to rest it can fully function and give the best result hydration and sleep does go hand in hand after all, sleeping and allowing the body to remove waste products after drink clean water.
What challenges did you face while trying to keep up with it?
The challenge I faced trying to keep this up is somehow unimaginable, because the first day I tried to sleep at 10 pm to make an 8-hour sleep, I slept by 11:30 pm until the next week, before I got the hang of it, and today I can confidently say that I usually have eight hours of sleep. When I wanted to start the hydration habits, it took me 3 weeks because it wasn't easy drinking enough water before needing it urgently while doing things that are also necessary, but I am glad that today I can beat my chest and say that I am hydrated.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start this habit too?
I would advise anyone who loves to engage in hydration and sleeping to have patience and determination. It is only when you have been determined that you will easily pick up the habit. It wasn't an easy start for me, but today I can say this habit will remain permanent. One thing you must do to make sure that you sleep on time is time management, i.e, doing the right thing at the right time. This is because most individuals don't have this planned for the day and usually keep their focus on irrelevant things, what I mean is that you should do what I important, (it's just like getting your needs because your wants and I promise you this will be part of you and you will thank me later).
