What do you understand by Savory Appetizers?(1 mark )
Savoury appetisers, as the name implies, simply means a spicy or salty quality meal without sweetness that is served before the main meal. These savoury appetisers are usually delicious, spicy, and tasty. When one loses appetite for food, it is recommended that they eat some savoury appetisers in order to build up their appetite for food. It is often difficult to say no to appetisers, especially the savoury ones.
Make any one savory appetizer from given recipes in detail step by step with pictures . You can add ingredients of your choice too . (7 marks)
Ingredients
Chicken boneless 500g
ginger garlic powder 1 tsp
Hot chilli powder as per taste
Salt as per taste
Black pepper 1/2 tsp
Vinegar 1 tsp
Soy sauce 1 tsp
Mixed spices 1/4 tsp
Food colouring orange 1/4 tsp
For garnishing
Barbecue sticks, green bell pepper, and carrots
Procedure
Step 1:
Add hot chilli powder as per taste.
1/4 teaspoon of mixed spices,
1 teaspoon of ginger and garlic powder or 1/2 teaspoon of ginger and garlic paste,
salt to taste,
1/4 teaspoon of orange food colour,
1 teaspoon of soya sauce
and 1 teaspoon of white vinegar
into the boneless chicken and marinate it for two hours.
Step 2:
After two hours of marinating elapse, add 2 tablespoons of oil into a frying pan and place the pan on the fire.
Cook the marinated boneless chicken for about 5-8 minutes. Stir at intervals to avoid burning. When the chicken dries up, then it is ready.
Step 3:
Make a decoration using barbecue sticks, green bell peppers and carrots or any decoration of your choice.

Other examples of appetisers include chicken suya, peppered snail, peppered 'kpomo' (cow skin), peppered goat meat, peppered gizzard, samosas and spring rolls, salads and so on.
What should be the right portion of serving of appetizers?(1 mark)
The right portion of serving appetisers depends on if there is a meal after the appetiser. If it is before a meal, it could be between 3 and 4 bites. But if it is the main meal, 5 to 8 bites.
