Contest Alert: **My Neighbourhood Watch #105 Reporting Events Around Us**
Greetings everyone, i will be reporting an event around my town today which is about road congestion in the known itam market in uyo local government area. The itam market is a generally known market here close to the ibom plaza, this market seems to be one of the most visited market here and one with most population.
Road congestion in this itam market area is a very huge problem that needs government attention, this road attract alot of traders from many localities because it's a major market situated in the centre of our town. On big market days it attracts alot of buyers which will eventually increase the number of vehicles that ply the road leading to congestion.
The Government should look into the case of expanding the road or making other routes for big vehicles to use to their various destinations. From the picture I uploaded you can clearly see that pedestrian, vehicles and goods are actually sharing the road. The road comes in two lanes not just two but too small for such events.
The Government should try making laws that governs the movement of pedestrians and vehicles, from the look of things the road cannot be reconstructed for now. Laws that govern how car owners park, hawkers occupying the sidewalk and sellers bringing on their goods to the main road.
This very view shows how close pedestrians are to vehicles. Mostly in the morning, the road gets so congested that even emergency service vehicles cannot pass the road easily. This very issue should be tackled by the government and mostly the people of the community.
Lastly big vehicles should be given another road to ply because to me the cause road damages. So such area shouldn't be allowed for such vehicles.

Traffic congestion has always been an issue in this area. And this is as a result of people selling very close to the road. It is actually very unsafe for both the pedestrian users and the traders. Just like you said, the government should do something about it. Great post.
