🥇Who are you and why are you in the judges stage?

1000081817.jpg

My name is Aniekeme Monday Emacha, but almost everyone in the creative space knows me as Deportal.

I'm contestant 13, @deportal.

I'm that boy that never stops smiling 😊 because when I smile, it helps me stay alive.
And somehow music connects with smiles 😊

If there’s one thing that runs through my family’s veins, it’s music and for me, especially acapella.

In the first stage of this contest, I made a statement that in the family I come from, everyone sings and it's a way of life to us.

My mum gave birth to tremble, alto, tenor and bass.

And if music is my genetic makeup, I can't escape it.

If I can sing with joy and understanding without prize 🏆, how much more when prizes have been named?

The only reason I made it here, the judges stage is because music is my genetic makeup.

Music is my character and lifestyle. And because I didn't see it as a way to winning a prize 🏆 but as a way of life, I made it to the judges stage, not all by own self, but God.

Honestly,I’m not here because I’m the best or because I’ve done everything perfectly, off course no one is ever perfect, so I am not perfect.

Though I understand very well that one has not to be perfect before he could be the best, but has to pursue perfection in other to be excellent if not perfect.

In fact, I’ve made some silly choices in the past that could have stopped me from ever getting this far. But when something is woven into your DNA, it has a way of pulling you back on track.

Reaching the judges stage is humbling for me.

I see it not as a sign that I’ve “arrived,” but as a reminder that the little I have given so far has been heard by the good people of steemit. From the host community, the judges, the chief host himself @bossj23 and the community members.

And if my voice can carry me here, then maybe it can also inspire someone else to keep going.
Because I know very well that my voice is not the best here, but I work with the rules to see how I can get there.

🥇 What song did you sing and why do you choose the song? Tell us about the song and why it suits your voice.

Song Title:

Awasi ajid ajaya (our God is beautiful ❤️)

why this song:

Of course everyone will agree with me that God is indeed beautiful.

Although we haven't seen Him with our eyes before but we experience God.

From our experiences and encounter with God, we will all conclude that God is beautiful ❤️

It's only a fool that says that there's no God.
I didn't say that.

There's a song that confirms that.
And maybe the Bible does as well ❤️‍🩹

Go through the previous posts I have made on this platform, you'll see how I share my dirty experiences in school.

One that no one wishes to happen to him/her.
But in all of these things, I am alive writing this post to you, and to the great Steem4Nigeria community, my fellow contestants, the judges and everyone else.
It's a testament to the truth that God is beautiful 😊

I should have started explaining the wordings of this song but I feel there's a caption that was meant for that.

About the song and why it suits my voice

I can't say something about the song without properly introducing the song and it's meaning.
Especially since it's sung in my local dilate.

VERSE 1

Awasi ajid Ajaya ooo
Ajaya....
Enye ôfôn ye ammi ye afo oo
Awasi ajid.....
Ajaya ooo
Ajaya.....

VERSE 2

Afônôfôn......
Aliôkôliôk.... enye com enye....
Koro enye ômôfiôk ntungô ye utud ooo
Enye de...
Atommo abôkô awasi....
Alod ekom.....

Then Humming follows!

SONG INTERPRETATION

Verse 1
Our God is beautiful.
He is beautiful
He is good to me and you
Our God is beautiful
He is beautiful....

Verse 2
Whether good or bad, I will thank Him...
For He knows the beginning and the end..
He is the God that answers when called upon..
He deserves our gratitude.....

From the interpretation we all know about song and the message the song passes.

But I will have this to add.

Our God is beautiful doesn't really emphasize God's physical appearance or beauty but the explains that God is good.

Of course God is beautiful in physical appearance even when we've not seen Him before.

But in our experiences with Him, we can say He is indeed beautiful.

If God can create all of us beautiful ❤️, He Himself is beautiful ❤️

God does not give what He does not have.
And of course God has all things.

Addressing why it suits my voice, I have this to say.

Aside from the truth that God is good or God is beautiful, I also went for this very song because it's soft and it's a kind of song that would not stress my deep voice 😂

If you noticed that I did not use my actual voice.

Before one sings with his voice, there is an inner voice that comes out first usually soft from the Tommy through the vocals before the mouth.

That was the voice I used to sing this song.
So I chose to sing this song because it's soft and goes well with my kind of voice.

Realistically, any song that goes so loud with a high pitch does not suit well with me. This is because, on a normal day, what I produce trying to sing such songs is something deep and will not come out how it was needed.

So this song is a soft kind.
Does not require higher notes that much but melody and harmony in the voices and I think I gave that my best.

The pitch of this beautiful song helped me to sing comfortably even with the deep voice that I have naturally.

This is the same voice I use when singing alto and it doesn't disappoints.

🥇What one thing do you love about your voice when singing the song? Did you use the marking scheme to practice?

I said already that my voice is not the best but the good thing about me and my voice is that we can communicate.
In other words, we are compatible.

What I mean is that my voice is flexible or adjustable towards the kind of song being sung.

I remember the day I met some persons singing at the department of engineering, NECB block, when I was in level 200.

Their voices were do lovely 🌹 😍
@bee was there.

And because music is in my gene, I couldn't control it and I joined them sing.

I sang bass.
When I open my vocals, the persons there were so surprised 😯 and they enjoyed having me joined them.

That was an amazing moment!

And that alone has made me achieved a lot in music. I know when I go off and how to position my voice to blend. Whether it's alto, treble, bass or tenor, I know how to go about it.

Not because I am really good at it, but because music is partly a technique. And I understand these techniques so well ❤️‍🩹

I have this to say in response to the question if I used the marking scheme to practice .

Yes of course I did use it.
Some students failed exams not because they were never brilliant, but because they were too confident and forgot the rules or instructions which matters a lot.

Even if I was to be the best, I would have still gone through the marking schemes because with the marking scheme, you get it right.

With the marking scheme, you put in little effort but gets the best.

With the marking scheme, you can even surprise someone who knows very well he is better than you.

So I used the marking scheme before I even started singing.

🥇Do you think your performance will send you to the next stage? Is there any judge you're afraid of?

The worst thing to do to yourself in any contest, is not believing in yourself.

To believe in oneself is not pride but confidence.

When you don't believe in yourself at first, no one believes in you.

So I believe in myself.
I believe in my performance.
I believe in what I gave in.

What really matters is not judges' verdict since everyone needs a verdict that favours him.
But what matters is whether I gave in my best, as this will, in one way, determine what I go home with.

I see the judges as guides not threats, so I am not afraid of any of them but eager to learn from them and accept their final verdict in good faith.

If the judges could say that they are not good enough to do the job, it affirms to the fact that no one is perfect, hence no need to allow fear take chances.

So there's no need to be afraid, but to brace up and accept the verdict.

Because whatever verdict is given at the end of the day will be given base on the marking scheme.
