SLC-S25/W4 - Movie Snapshots | Time Travel and Twist – The Call (2020)

Hello Everyone !

Honestly, I’m not someone who watches a lot of movies. With college, studies, and everything else, I don’t get much time to sit and enjoy films. But since thiis Steemit contest was going on and the theme was about time travel and plot twists, I thought this time I should give it a try and watch something different.

So I looked through a few recommendations, and then I came across a movie called " The Call ". I heard a lot of good reviews about it, and since I already like Korean dramas and movies, I decided to give it a chance.

At first, I didn’t expect much from it, and honestly, in the beginning, I was a bit confused and couldn’t really understand what was happening. But as I kept watching with full attention, I realized it was an amazing film. I didn’t expect that I’d enjoy it this much. It’s probably one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time definitely at the top of my list now.

The story starts with a girl named Seo yeon who returns to her old house. Her mother is in the hospital, seriously ill, and their relationship isn’t very close. Seo yeon believes her mother is responsible for her father’s death because she thinks a fire broke out in their house due to her mom's carelessness in leaving the gas stove on.

One day, while lying in the house, she hears an old phone ring. It's a vintage phone she had set up earlier, not realizing it actually worked. When she answers it, there’s a girl named Young sook on the other end. Young sook claims someone is trying to kill her, that her mother is abusing her. Seo yeon thinks it's just a wrong number and hangs up, but the calls keep coming.

Eventually, Seo yeon realizes something strange this girl is living in the exact same house, but 20 years in the past. Through the phone, the past and present connect. At first, they talk like friends and begin to help each other. Seo yeon tells her what happens in the future, and Young sook tells her things from the past.

One day, Young sook finds out that Seo yeon’s father died in a fire. Seo yeon tells her the exact date and place. Young sook decides to go there and stop the fire from happening. She succeeds, and in doing so, she completely changes Seo yeon’s present. Her father is alive, the house is beautiful, and everything seems perfect. Seo yeon is so happy and starts loving her new life.

But that happiness doesn’t last.

As the story progresses, Young sook's personality starts to change. At first, she seems like a kind girl who just wants to escape her abusive stepmother. But then we see her dark side. After being told by Seo yeon that her stepmother will kill her, she decides to kill her first. Slowly, she becomes more dangerous.

She turns into a serial killer and starts using the phone to threaten Seo yeon. She tells her that if she doesn’t cooperate, she will hurt her mother in the past, changing the future again.

This part of the film was very intense and emotional. I was literally holding my breath while watching. Seo yeon’s mother from the past tries to protect her daughter’s future by fighting with Young sook. Those scenes were powerful and made me realize how deep a mother’s love can be.

I honestly thought things would end well when Seo yeon wakes up in the present and sees her mother alive. They hug, and I felt relieved, like finally everything was okay.

But the real twist wasn’t over yet.

After the credits, we see that Young sook somehow manages to call her younger self and warns her about everything. That changes the timeline again. She escapes her fate and becomes even more dangerous. Now in the present, Seo yeon is back in darkness.

Her mother is gone. She’s alone, crying, locked in a room. That moment hit me so hard. I wasn’t expecting the ending to turn out like this. It shocked me and left me thinking about it for a long time.

This movie made me think deeply about how one small change in the past can completely destroy or transform someone’s future. It shows that time travel isn’t always magical sometimes it brings horror. I’m not someone who watches many movies, but I’m so glad I watched this one. It was scary, surprising, emotional, and thought-provoking all at the same time.

If anyone is looking for a time travel movie with a crazy twist that will shake you, then The Call is the one to watch. But be ready the ending is not what you’ll expect at all.

The final scene where Seo yeon realizes her mother is gone and she’s completely alone was heartbreaking. I felt her painn, and it made me think how sometimes playing with fate can bring the worst outcome.

Even though I rarely watch movies, I really enjoyed this one. It kept me glued from start to finish, and I learned a lot from it. This wasn’t just a movie it was an emotional experience.

Glad you found time to see a movie. Good choice of movie.

Many details about the movie you have described are missing like what year it was released, name of producer and directors, casts and even your personal rating about the movies.

For a start I think you did your best.
