Watch a movie that reflects a part of your identity, culture, or experience.
The movie I chose is “Tumhari Sulu”, and I must say, it truly touched my heart. It felt less like a film and more like someone telling my story, my feelings, my struggles just through a different person’s life.

Sulu, short for Sulochana Dubey, is a middle class housewife who has always been underestimated. She didn't complete her education, but she had this spark this desire to do something of her own, to explore life beyond the kitchen and household chores. People around her would tease her, make fun of her, and label her as someone who "just dreams too much." That hit me deeply, because I’ve experienced something very similar.
Coming from a traditional Pakistani Muslim family, the expectations from girls are often simple take care of the house, focus on family, and don’t aim for too much outside. And just like Sulu, I’ve often felt like society tries to put me in a box,, telling me what I can and cannot do. But Sulu doesn’t let those voices break her. She sees opportunities where others see limitations.
When she hears about an RJ (radio jockey) job, she grabs the chance not because she was highly qualified, but because she had confidence, a beautiful heart, and a natural voice that could connect with people. She starts doing a night show where she talks in a warm, caring tone and it becomes a hit.
That really moved me, because just like her, I also believe in using my voice and thoughts whether through writing, web development, or simple conversations to connect with others.
Sulu didn’t become famous overnight. She faced family pressure, guilt, and even misunderstandings from her husband, who couldn't accept her sudden success. That’s such a realistic part of our lives. Sometimes when a girl starts shining, people around her don’t always support her they feel uncomfortable.
I, too, have faced moments where I questioned myself: “Should I focus only on studies and home? Am I being selfish for dreaming more?” But like Sulu, I’ve learned that dreaming is not a sin. Working on yourself is not wrong.
I’m also a student, while managing my home, college, and personal growth. There are days when I feel tired and unseen, but Sulu reminded me that even if the world doesn’t clap for you, you should still cheer for yourself. Your value isn’t decided by your marks or job title it’s decided by your passion, your resilience, and your courage to keep trying.
What I loved most about Sulu was her positive energy. She didn’t wait for permission to be happy she created her own happiness, even in small things. That reminded me to be proud of my small achievements too like completing a difficult HTML/CSS layout, writing a blog post on Steemit, or just learning something new despite a busy routine.
Mention 5 things from the movie that motivated you to keep pushing in life.
After watching Tumhari Sulu, I honestly felt like I had a little spark lit inside me. I was smiling, emotional, and motivated all at once. Here are 5 things from the movie that gave me real strength to keep going:✨🌼
• 1. Sulu's Confidence Even Without Degrees
Sulu wasn’t a top student or degree holder
but she had something even more powerful: self belief. That hit me hard. I’m still learning, not perfect in everything, but watching her confidently say, “Main kar sakti hai” (I can do it) made me feel like, "Yes, even I can!"
• 2. She Didn't Wait for Permission to Dream
She didn’t wait for anyone’s approval. She just went for it. That taught me to stop waiting for the “right time” or “someone to support me.” Like when I decided to learn coding and write posts on Steemit I didn’t know where it would take me, but I took the first step, just like her.
• 3. Balancing Life Like a Boss Lady
I was seriously impressed how she handled everything housework, her child, husband, and then her job too. And in the middle of it all, she still managed to keep smiling. I often feel like I’m juggling too many things college, learning new skills, family but Sulu reminded me that we’re stronger than we think. Even if we drop a few “balls,” we don’t give up.
• 4. Turning a Simple Skill into a Superpower
She had a soft, sweet voice and she turned that into her job..That made me think: "What is something I’m good at?" I may not have a radio voice, but maybe my creativity, my writing, or my coding skills can also become something valuable one day.
• 5. Her Positive Attitude and Fun Energy
Even when life was tough, Sulu kept her fun and bubbly energy alive. It reminded me not to lose my own laughter in stress. Like when I’m stuck on a coding error or when my blog doesn’t get enough votes instead of crying (okay, sometimes I cry a little 😅), I try to breathe, laugh, and say: “Chalo, next time better hoga.”
Who was your favorite character? And why?
Honestly, while Sulu was amazing, my favorite character was her husband, Ashok. I know, I know people usually don’t talk much about him, but for me, he really stood out.
At first, I thought he would be one of those typical filmi husbands strict, angry, always stopping the wife. But no! He was real. Like, really real. He had his own struggles, insecurities, and stress from work. Sometimes he got annoyed, sometimes he didn’t understand Sulu’s dreams fully… but he never disrespected her.
What really touched me was how he tried to support her in his own way. Even when he felt a little jealous or confused, he didn’t stop her from flying. There’s a beautiful moment when he brings her food at work,, and that small act showed so much love. Not flashy, just pure care.
It reminded me of some of the people in my life they may not always show their support with big words, but they’re there. Quietly cheering me on. 💪🌸
Ashok’s character made me realize that real love isn’t always loud sometimes, it’s just being present, adjusting, and slowly growing together. And to be honest, in a world where women are often told to sacrifice their dreams for others, it felt so refreshing to see a man who was trying to walk with his wife, even if the road was a little new for him.
Mention at least 2 movies you have seen this year that inspired you and why they did....
🍊 When Life Gives You Tangerines
This movie really touched my heart because it showed a true story of love, struggle, and strength. What made it even more beautiful was that the main girl and the boy were together since childhood. They weren’t strangers they grew up together, and then later got married. That bond made their relationship feel so real and deep.
The girl went through a lot of hard times financial problems, emotional pain, and many difficulties in life. But what gave her strength was her supportive husband who stood by her through everything. They didn’t have an easy life, but they never left each other’s side.
They raised their children with love and care, supported their daughter to study abroad, and always worked hard for their family. What made me cry was the scene where the husband was dying he didn’t think about himself. Instead, he was only worried about how his wife would live without him. That part really broke my heart.
What inspired me even more was knowing that this story is based on real life🥺❤️. It made me think how strong they must have been to live through all this? How much love they had for each other to stay together from childhood till old age? and no matter how hard life gets, if you have the right person by your side, you can survive anything.
📘 12th Fail
This movie gave me real motivation, especially as a student. The way Manoj worked hard and didn’t give up even after failing again and again really touched me. His journey was full of problems, but he still kept trying.
I also face pressure in studies, life, and sometimes I feel like giving up. But this movie reminded me that even if you fail, you can still rise again. You don’t need to be perfect you just need to believe in yourself and keep going.
That's it from today’s blog. I hope you liked it. With best wishes. Now I would like to invite:
