Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 102:That True Saying.
Proverbs/adages are true sayings that has existed for several years and still has a lot of meaning even in the current world. In my junior secondary class we were taught in Ibibio different Proverbs which had great meaning and still has, one short adage that never left was;
"Uwém edí imo"
Life is wealth
This adage tells us how important and great Life is, having life is already wealth. A dead person has no hope, no plans and no future but with life you're already one step in wealth. You have to appreciate every moment life gives you and you have to recognize the importance of Life.
What is that/those Proverbs or adages you believe to be true and how did you get to hear or know about it.

"Ninety nine days for the thief and one day for the owner"
In most cases, there's always one day for the thief, I don't know if it's a curse but it is a tick for this adage. I have heard elders in my village say it in our local language, I understood the first meaning which it interprets, I also heard it from my parents when they were casually throwing Nke(Proverbs). Finally I was taught in school, I came to realize it has more wider meaning.
It doesn't necessarily mean it will be a thief and a farmer in the scenario, also cheaters, they can go on cheating poor people for years but one day it will be a fishing hook to their throat.
Why do you believe that saying is true? Do you know of or have any experience that confirms this proverb or adage
I have seen and heard many experiences that confirms this Proverb. Stealing and robbery has made waves in the country and unlucky for some of them jungle justice comes in.
In Nigeria the remaining one day for the owner covers the whole 99 days the thief has been stealing, before he explains himself, his nationality is changed from a Nigerian to a Chinese, lol. The thief receives countless hits without knowing where it comes from. Omor fear naija boys oo, I don't support jungle justice but the level of injustice that happens when it is handed over to some authorities, some of them takes bribe and releases the victim, who is seen around the next day and that is the reason some people take laws into their own hands.
Thief's go extreme to killing or setting a permanent injury on a person, that's why they get everything they receive.
After school hours I left as usual, on my way reaching to get a vehicle outside the school gate, I saw flames reaching to the sky and people gathering around, I just heard someone say It is a thief that is burning, I couldn't watch as I left already. On reaching home, I saw the news and it read, "The thief that has been snatching phones, laptops and bags from student has been caught and burnt".
I couldn't help but watch the video to the end, I was thinking of how those students were able to cope after their items where stolen, most of the materials they use in school are stored in their devices and most of them work remotely with their phones as it is their source of income. I don't support jungle justice, it would have been better if he was taken to the authority, but he deserved everything he received.
Do you think the relevance of this proverb will be preserved in the next few generations to come
Always, this proverb has come to stay, since it is the same life we are living this Proverb will still have relevance, you might be dominating a group with your influence but know that one day freedom will speak.
I would love to invite @johnmitchel, @bossj23 and @davidmarkgeorge to share their adage.
