"SLC-S25/W2-Movie Snapshots|Book to Screen (The Fault In Our Stars)
I feel happy to participate in this contest because I am among those who prefer watching movies that originated from a story. Some movies are based on fiction, whereas some are based on true-life stories. It is movies that are based on true-life stories that interest me the most. This is a clue, and below I have thrown more light on the theme of the challenge.
Do you think, an idea is better written as a book/novel or acted out as a movie? And which do you prefer?
Books/Novels:
To me these are better when I am looking for the following:
When I want a deep emotional connection with the characters
When I want to explore motivations and inner thoughts
When I want to enjoy rich, descriptive storytelling
When the story has subplots and complex plots.
Movies:
This is better for me when I am looking for the following;
When the story is action-driven or visual
When I want quick, engaging storytelling
When I want to reach a wider audience fast
When I want to mix visual acting and mood.
I prefer movies when I want to see how emotions are being played, and books when I want to immerse myself fully in the characters. While everything is based on how the ideas are being shared.
Watch any movie adapted from a book or novel
I watched this movie titled "The Fault In Our Stars", which is a movie directed by John Green. It is a romantic movie that was adapted from a novel which you can also watch with me as shared below.

From the movie you have watched above, what can you say about the strength and weakness of the movie compared to the book/novel but if you have not read the book then tell us what captivated you the most in the movie and if you were to write a book on the movie how would that part be written to captivate the reader?
The strengths
In the movie I like how the emotional chemistry betweenAugustus and Hazel** was beautifully portrayed
Watching the character of the movie brought me to life to fall in love, hahahah 😍 😍 laughing 😂 😂 😂 😂 as the movie made the story more real and immediate.
Also the music and cinematography in the movie added more emotional weight, most especially that in Amsterdam.
The weakness
In the book the depth of Narration of Hazel was richer than in the movie
A lot of key characters and scenes were skipped which might be due to time
Some philosophical reflections and inner thoughts were simplified or missing in the movie.
What Captivates Me
What captivated me the most was when Augustus talks about pain, love, and how he doesn't regret loving Hazel wholeheartedly in his letter towards the end of the movie. His letter seems emotional and powerful to me, as it left a lasting impact on me.
If I were to write
Augustus wrote to her as if his whole soul had bled through the pen. His words in the letter carried the raw fact of impending death, they also soared with the quiet triumph of having and sharing love. He didn't fear anyone as he had hardened himself into the heart of a girl who had lit up his darkest moments. Hazel read through the letter, and for a moment, the world paused. It was beautiful but not fair to her.
To this, reading the books offers me the soul of the story, whereas the movie itself gives me the voice and flesh. However, both the movie and the book are powerful in passing messages across to audiences.
