Free time is for a movie which is the reason it takes me time to participate in this movie challenge because I will need to watch interesting movies before participating which has been my constraint but now that it's the weekend I have free time and I watched an interesting movie that reflects my identity, culture, and experience.

Watch a movie that reflects a part of your identity, culture, or experience.

  • Movie Title: The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
  • Director: Chiwetel Ejiofor
  • Based on: The movie is about the true/real story of , Kamkwanba William who saved his village people from famine by building a windmill.

The movie was filmed in Malawi, which is an African country.

Mention 5 things from the movie that motivated you to keep pushing in life.

The five things from the movie that motivated me to keep pushing in life are:

  • Innovation in Adversity
  • Education as Power
  • Resilience of African youths
  • Believe Despite Doubt
  • Community Struggle and Support

In the movie, due to how poor William was, he wasn't allowed to attend school, but he didn't give up on his dream as he still found a way to learn by sneaking into classes and reading books. This motivates me to know that knowledge is everywhere if I am hungry for it.

I got motivated by what William built without resources, but with scrap parts, he was able to build a windmill to pump water and generate electricity for his village. This alone makes me love anyone who is innovative.

William didn't give up on his dream, even as no one, including his father, believed in him; he still didn't give up and was able to achieve his dream. This motivates me always to hold onto my goals in life even if people criticise me.

The intelligence that William shows and how he was celebrated from nobody to somebody also motivated me. Finally, I got inspired by how community and family are a Source of strength.

Who was your favorite character? And why?

Kamkwanba William is my favorite character. The reason is that William embodies the spirit of doing what I can, with what I have available. William didn't wait for anyone to come save his village he alone took the initiative and came up with something tangible. William's intelligence, humility, and quiet strength made him the heart of the movie.

Mention at least 2 movies you have seen this year that inspired you and why they did.

Queen of Katwe (2016)

Why it inspired me.
I am one of those who is looking for a legitimate way to travel out of Nigeria for greener pastures. As I came across the movie, I got inspired by the life of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan citizen who rose from the slums to an international firm through the competition he won. It makes me have the strong belief that anyone can rise to the top, regardless of their background.

Rise (2022)

Why it inspired me.
From an undocumented immigrant in Greece to an NBA champion. This movie inspired me to have faith in my dream, and never to give up, even if everyone is against me.

I am inviting @dove11, @lhorgic and @dave-hanny
