AN INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO A WATER PLANT AS A CHEMISTRY INTERN
Greetings Steemians, I had the opportunity of going for an industrial visit at a water plant today, I'll be sharing with us a few experiences with us from this trip.
Arriving the location with my fellow interns in the morning, we met with the water plant manager and he warmly welcomed us. Our Supervisor who was to show us around also arrived and we started the business of the day. There was this tall building that caught our attention, Our supervisor told us it is called the WATER TOWER OR RESERVOIR. This tank is used for storing and distribution of treated water to the urban and rural communities, One of my fellow intern decided to enter inside the building, I guess he was curious as I was and he climbed up with courage to a height that everyone was Marvelled.

We were now taken to see the place where all the pumps and pipes are connected to for water treatment process.it was a deep hole known as MAINS.
Still on this visit our supervisor showed us the two big tanks or sludge tanks used for the LIMEDOSING PROCESS of water purification, he explained to us that this process is essential for water because it adjust the water pH, as we learnt the normal water pH for drinking water should be between 6.5 -8.5. He further concluded that this process also helps to remove impurities and reduce the demand of some heavy metals which could be harmful to the human system.

After we were done, we were getting tired and decided to take a break and take a group picture so that we can return to our various homes.

The experience was truly enlightening as I got to see visually the stages in which water is treated for safe consumption. It also broadened my knowledge in the water chemistry aspect of my course.
