Hello Steemians, I want to share with you a healthy habit that keeps me alive and hearty in the Steem4nigeria contest. This healthy habit is SLEEPING WELL.

What is one healthy habit you Practice regularly?

Sleeping well is the healthy habit I practice regularly. Many people complain that I do take sleep so seriously with my life, or they assume that sleeping is actually an act of laziness. But I must say, sleeping well regularly is one habit that helps me mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and otherwise.

When and why did you start this habit?

I started prioritizing this habit of sleeping well after the experience I had 6 years ago; this was during my Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations.

I'll often soak myself into hours of cramming, reviewing, and revising on different subject topics when I'm back from many long hours of studying in class during the day; this leads to having serious migraines, easily getting tired, and having blurred sight. I noticed these signs, and I adopted the habit of taking as much sleep and rest as I can.

How has it improved your physical, mental, or emotional health?

Truth be told, since I committed time after my long schedules for the day to get a better SLEEP, my body system feels so energetic physically, mentally I focus better, emotionally I feel less stressed and have reduced mood swings, and also I have improved my reactions to people's behavior around me.

What challenges did you face with trying to keep up with it?

One of the challenges is that sometimes I have to ignore bedtime due to school workload, daily fixed chores, and also distractions from people and noise. I also tried to break the habit of staying up late at night scrolling my phone; trust me, it's a bit of a challenge to break free from this addiction.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start this habit too?

My candid advice is to set aside pressing thoughts and workloads and create a proper time for sleep. Creating a set bed time schedule for myself and sleeping in a calm environment has helped maintained a good sleeping hygiene. Also, most of us who are victims of staying up late at night viewing our screens (TV and phones) should do away with this act. You never can tell; most of the headaches and blurred vision we have could be as a result of this, so one powerful tool you should adopt is SLEEPING WELL to be fit and healthy.

I can relate to when you said you used to soak yourself into cramming, revising and the rest
I used to do same while I was in secondary school
