The Day My Friend’s iPhone Was Sold by phone engineer

‎Last 2 week something crazy happened that left all of us in shock. It started as a simple phone repair — nothing serious — just changing a charging port but ended in a police station, with someone walking away with a brand new iPhone. Sounds like a movie, right? But this one is 100% real.

‎My friend’s iPhone started malfunctioning. Its wasn't charging at all. He bought the phone recently and it's not up to 2 months. So like every normal person, he took it to his friend who live the same estate with him. According to him, the guy or engineer was someone we thought was trustworthy. He took the phone to his shop in a computer village where all the phone repairs are carry-out there, "I will call you in the evening,” he told him.

‎Evening pass no calls, the next day we tried to called, he said his busy that he will get back to us. Till the next, I do Whatsapp call. When my friend went back, the engineer started giving stories. First it was “I'm still working on it,” then “The part is not available,” and finally, “send someone to come and collect it.”

‎Something didn’t feel right. You know why. My friend told me that he said he should send the iCloud id and password. S I was wondering what do iCloud id and password has to do with repairing charging port? I told my friend but he said he knows him very well, I said okay no problem.

‎My went there to collect the phone as he said only to get there and realized that he had sold the phone. The new buyer also had the same issue my friend had, unable to charge and he arrested the engineer for selling bad iPhone to him. S when my friend gets to the place he was taken to police station too. Another banger....🤣

‎Yes, he sold someone else’s phone like it was his own. The new owner met the real owners the the thief...omo....e funny eh🤣

‎Thanks to police intervention, a settlement was made and my friend was to get a new iPhone the next day. But the trust was broken forever. My guy never plan of buying a Brand new iPhone but the opportunity makes it possible. H got a brand new iPhone 12. I don't know how the engineer and the new buyer settle but all I cares is that my friend got his phone back.

‎Moral lesson:
‎
‎1. Always collect a receipt or agreement when dropping your phone.

‎2. Avoid street-side engineers oo unless you know them well or else you won't like the story.

‎3. Don’t be silent when something feels off.
‎
‎Conclusion:
‎It was a bitter experience, but a strong reminder that in this world, you must protect your property — even during something as small as a phone repair.
