Contest - week 5 - 1st August/ My tradition way of live
Hello my wondrous colleagues, good to see you all in a fantastic and lovely day.
I'm here to talk about my traditional, the way of living in my community today.
How does my tradition looks like? Okay let's talk about it and the benefit of it.
You might think of how my tradition is in nature but don't panic,I'll elucidate it. What are the necessary things in my tradition, how we greet, cook, dress etc.
Let's begin with greetings.
You may ask how do they greet in Ibibio, but don't worry I will tell you. In Ibibio we normally bow if you are a boy and girls do bend their knees while greeting. With all this you have to say"Ete amesiere" which means "good morning sir" but if the person is elderly woman you will greet" mma amesiere" which means "good morning ma" this is how we greet in our tradition. Oftentimes, some people do not engage bowing or bending of their knees anymore due to adaptation of some foreign traditions , instead they rather greet without observing those actions before they greet, even with that we still know that our tradition still stands though we adapt with other traditional mood of greetings, such as shaking of hands etc.
Yes! This is the best part of our tradition in Ibibio. You may ask how do they dress? It's not difficult but it may look somehow to you since you are not familiar to our tradition. In my tradition, men always dress with native clothes such as chief tency with caps, while women are using rappers and some top, sometimes up and down, that's the short way to call it. This mood of dressing always looks so wondrous to them. But early this century,we are adopting other traditional way of dressing. Oftentimes, some of us in our tradition are now wearing things like t-shirts, trousers suit etc but we never erese our tradition mode of dressing.
When it comes to food, there are a lot to think about, how we prepare our food in our tradition, and lots more. We have different ways of preparing food and different types of food, but I'll mention few.
My tradition has many food and how to prepare it such as Ekpankuguw, asaiwa, otomboro efere Afang, Etike, afai efere and other. Question now is ' how do we prepare all this food? Well, not that difficult, there are several ways of preparing those food, like Ekpankuguw, let me give you some tips on how to prepare Ekpankuguw. First you need to have your cocoyam and cocoyam leaf or vegetable leaf ready, get your red oil, fish, meat, periwinkle, grefish, Maggi ,Sault ,pepper and onions. You will blend your cocoyam and use the vegetable leaf to rap it in a smaller portion. After that, put your pot on fire, put all your ingredients in your pot stream it for some minutes and after that you pour your red oil mix your cocoyam and allow it to steam for some minutes before you get it ready to eat. Wow that sound so yummy. That's how we prepare one of our traditional food.
Coming to the game time, this always the most beautiful moment to our traditional, children have many games to play, adult the same. We have many games to play and present in my tradition, few are hide and seek, boxing, runs etc.
This also contributed to the success of our traditional.
To elucidate,it's very important to know about your tradition. In my tradition, there are many ways of doing things like I said before, greetings ,eating, cooking, games and etc, this brings us together and we enjoy our traditional.
I know we all have traditional ways of lives. I would like to know about yours . Thank you for your precious time. I hereby invited my boss #bossj, #myrtle05 , #basil20, b#okere-blessing , #gertu
